Great food

Went for a late supper with another couple, after viewing elk, due to good TA reviews. Used GPS to get through a convoluted route but it was worth the trip! Wonderful service, great food. All of our meals - salad, burger, chicken, pasta - were really good. Ran out of chardonnay. One downside was how loud the dining room was. We were expecting fine dining from the photos, but this was a good, local-feel place instead. We were not disappointed with our choice!

Nice place, but overpriced

There is a large selection of items on the menu, but everything is rather expensive. The service is also rather slow.

Dinner with family

We arrived early and enjoyed a couple of craft beers at the bar. Staff were friendly and got table ready for us so that when family arrived we could go in and sit down. My wife had wings and said they were excellent. I had a chicken and roasted pepper panini which was also great. Enjoyed the evening.

Rushed Service Poor Food

We had an early dinner here because we wanted to get to an elk viewing area at dusk. We were the only ones dining at the time and felt very rushed. We ordered the French Onion Soup and before we were even halfway done, we got our salads. Before I could even start my salad, our dinners came. We didn't have time to finish each course, we were rushed. The soup was very good, I would recommend it. I got the roast beef sandwich and my husband got the fried fish. There was a lot of food but it was very mediocre. My sandwich was very bland and even pepper could not make it any better. The batter on the fish was very crunchy and hard, as were the french fries. We would not eat here again, we were not impressed at all.

This restaurant needs help

West wind has been owned and or run by about 6 or 7 people in the last 15 years. Unfortunately this new absentee owner will not make it either, I'm sure they will soon be out of business. We were there shortly after the 4th of July and two people in our party ended up not even getting their food, quite a few other tables that were in the restaurant simply got up and walked out. If you're going to own a restaurant you need to be there to manage it. We had asked for our bill and the tattoo lady our waitress, had a real attitude explaining that this was not her fault and she could care less what we did. Well you know what.... it was her fault, she saw that we did not have food and should have done something about it. Try somewhere else the poor house or casali's restaurant

Go Somewere Else

Horrible Restaurant, The owner works at Sheets and tries to run this Restaurant on the side....Lousy job.....Half of our party never got their food....most of the people that came in after us left because of the long wait.The server was a waste and never apologized for our party not getting our food . said it wasn't Her fault....the owner needs to take responsibility for this property or sell it. We are done here. Try the Poor House

Great Experience at the Airport

Searched the web for an interesting place for dinner. Found The West Wind. We were glad that we did. The chicken dishes were tasty and tender. The pork chops were excellent also. Steak salad was also tender and as expected. Nikki was attentive and a great server. Thank you for a nice night out.

A gem in every sense of the word ! Don't let the casual atmosphere fool you! Fair prices, Wonderful food and Great service. We will certainly return ! Restaurant location is at the St. Mary's airport .

Perfect for lunch or dinner

The West Wind is by the airport. Thus, if there are flights or special flying events, you can be entertained. The good is very good and the portions are generous. If you wish, alcohol is served. The out of the way setting makes for a relaxing meal but it is only a few minutes from town.

We go about once a week (usually on steak night). All of their food is really good. Our table hasn't had a bad meal yet. Love the dollar draft nights too!

Wonderful

Since the change in owners the West Wind is so much better! It was busy when we went but got seated right away and our waitress was on point. I had a chicken salad, it was huge! My husband had the lobster stuffed haddock and raved about it. We sat in the deck since it was gorgeous. Very beautiful evening!

Overpriced and poor quality

Had the prime rib special which was served medium though asked for rare, and 2/3 of it was inedible fat. The comment from the cook was that is the way it comes. Beyond disappointed

stop there before going to bennezette to see the elk.got the steak special. was done to order and very tasty. watched some airplanes take off from airport.service was great and server very friendly. would recommend trying when in area.

Good servers but too few

There were only two servers on duty and they had a full house. They were nice though. The food was good when it came. But it took a long time. I suppose a tiny airport makes it uneconomical to have a large staff. There is a nice outside dining area overlooking the runway. A local pilot likes to buzz the runway in his Stearman biplane.
