Tuesday, May 28, 2019: We went to lunch at Judy’s on Cherry, where we met Judy. Lew started with glasses of Pinot grigio (10) while I had iced tea (2.99). Lew enjoyed a cup of their butter nut squash soup (3.99) with crab and curry and I enjoyed a cup of a wonderful gazpacho (4). Punctuated by a wonderful in-house bread and oil course, Lew shoes a Mushroom Pizza (13) with shiitake, oyster and button mushrooms and fontina cheese, caramelized onion, truffle oil and garlic, and I had an excellent Roast Beef Club Sandwich (11) of roast beef, bacon, lettuce, tomato, horseradish aioli on pumpernickel swirl rye toast. Senior Warning: It's upstairs, but there's good parking across the street

We were in town overnight and wanted to check out a local restaurant. Glad we went with this recommendation. We don't live too far away but had never heard of Judy's. The drink and food were excellent. We didn't have a reservation but luckily got there just before the dinner rush. We had the choice of sitting at the chef's corner where you can sir at a counter and watch them prepare meals or a hightop at the bar. We chose the latter. The bar isn't their main scene though, it's very small but the drinks we had were FABULOUS! I had the leap year margarita in celebration of National Margarita Day and my husband had a Sangria. I expected the usual super sour type of margarita but eas pleasantly surprised and it wasn't super sour at all. They make all the mixers from scratch and it definitely shows! I can honestly say it was the BEST margarita I have ever had! We then decided to try a cup of their soup. My husband had the soup of the day tomato gorgonzola soup and i had their butternut squash with crab. Both were excellent! Our dinner was good as well. They both came with a salad we both chose the mixed greens. The salad was fresh and the vegetables tasty. I had the short rib and my husband had the salmon. I enjoyed the short rib it was tender, a good portion and tasty. It was served over broad noodles with a side of sweet carrots and tasty string beans. The salmon was poached in a white wine and was a hearty portion as well. It was served with a side of brown rice as well as carrots, and a caramelized onion and leek garnish. We couldn't finish our meals but looking forward to our leftovers! Oh they also start you off with a little bit of fresh bread that they make for each table as you sit down in the brickoven with oil for dipping! YUMMY! We will be back and im going to try the seabass next time! Highly recommend.

We recently had a benefit dinner at Judy’s on Cherry and as usual, Judy delivered above and beyond. We had six of us at our table and there was not a single complaint, but only praise from the group about the entire dining experience. We ALL ironically ordered the butternut squash soup with crab meat as an appetizer and the flavor profile was simply “yum”! It was “buttery” all right, creamy and filled with richness and flavor. All six of us raved about the soup. My husband had the braised short ribs and they were tender an delicious. They were served with mashed potatoes, carrots and green beans. All was prepared very well and savory. I had the Land and Sea salad with beef filet, scallops and shrimp. This salad is a favorite of mine, although the menu changed recently and the dish is now served with a sirloin steak, instead of a filet. I requested the filet and the chef prepared it well. The ending was the never disappointing Mrs. Wessner’s coconut cake and it complimented our delicious meals perfectly...creamy, coconut goodness. The atmosphere at Judy’s is always up beat and sophisticated. Service is always friendly and excellent! Thank you Richard Stoudt for hosting an excellent event — Good Thyme for Life! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the evening and Thank You Judy for all of the hard work and wonderful things that you did to make this night magical. Cheers!🍷

I haven’t been here in many years. I was very excited to go with a friend of mine. I had made a reservation a week earlier and explained that it was my friend’s birthday and asked if they did anything special. They assured me that they did (a slice of cake with a happy birthday message) and I felt excited having a secret to surprise my friend. We ordered a wine and hot tea. A server brought us focaccia. Something we didn’t ask for but were happy to receive. It was ok. But knowing we had the burrata appetizer coming - I didn’t want to fill up on it, so I only nibbled on one piece. We both ordered salads. Both of which we enjoyed. Our waitress was very pleasant and efficient. The part that bothered me was at the end. We looked at dessert menus but I wasn’t really sure what was happening with my friend’s birthday cake. So we said we passed and when the waitress brought me the check (my treat), I figured there was a disconnect somewhere. I excused myself to the bathroom and went to find the hostess and she wasn’t there. A waiter saw that I was waiting to speak to someone and came over. I explained that I had called and asked about a birthday surprise for my friend. He said they normally do do something. Our waitress saw me at the hostess stand too and came over. I explained to her that when I made the reservation I said it was my friend’s birthday. I wasn’t sure if they charged or not for the dessert (and I didn’t mind paying for something) but the surprise wasn’t there anymore so I said never mind. I guess I thought the waitress might still do something for my friend but she didn’t. Ok but … Then I opened the check and saw a charge for the focaccia. Granted it was only $1.50. But we didn’t ask for it. And certainly didn’t know there would be a charge. A server just plopped it down on our table and said, “I’ll bring oil.” I think for a pricier restaurant this is a bit tacky. It’s more principle than cost. I get that the restaurant industry is having a tough go of it. But this just left a bad taste in my mouth.

We enjoyed Judy’s on Cherry. We were in town for the Berks Jazz Festival and this restaurant seemed the best choice close to Santander Performing Arts Center. We shared a bottle of Westbrook Merlot, Walla Walla Washington. It was pretty good. They have a small but decent wine list. We also shared their Antipasto for Two appetizer. This was the only thing subpar in our dining experience at Judy’s and I would recommend skipping this one. Not that anything was bad but it was nothing special. My wide had the Chilean Sea Bass and I had the Filet Mignon with Gorgonzola butter. Both entrees were excellent and came with a small house salad. The table was set with olive oil and they brought bread for dipping. Service was pretty good but servers were very busy at the opening hour. We would definitely recommend and it was our best meal in Reading.

Daughter lives in the area and said she heard good things and wanted to try Judy''s I have to say Judy's exceeded our expectations. Great eclectic little place in what looks like an old industrial building redesigned. they have this pre meal bread they make fresh in a hearth fired oven that is to die for. Great menu selections, I had the Casuela Roast of Jersey Scallops, cooked to perfection. Our server Shelby was wonderful made you feel like she was there just for you. I think I just found my favorite special dining experience in Reading. Go, run, don't hesitate you wont regret it. Just fabulous! Thank you Judy's

There is a relaxed ambiance with friendly and helpful staff. Judy herself was there and was charming and informative. The menu thankfully is not huge, but has a wide variety of flavors and unexpected but delicious combinations. Marvelous desserts! The butternut squash soup is perfect! The menu changes from time to time and I want to go back again and again to try more although I live about an hour away.

Hubby and I had a wonderful, wonderful meal. Every dish we received was delicious. We started with the Gorgonzola Baked Figs topped w/ Bacon, which we found extremely enjoyable. Then I had the crabcakes and hubby had the filet mignon. I ate every last morsel. Hubby said his filet was cooked to perfection and tasted delicious. We finished the fabulous meal with what had to be one of the finest desert made in heaven....their Banana Creme Pie.........Oh I must mention how efficient and nice our waitress, Iris, was. She made the experience extra special. We will definitely will be back.....

Imagine my excitement to try a new resteraunt when visiting Reading, PA. We checked Trip Advisor and made reservations at Judy's on Cherry. Nice atmosphere, food was average, service was below average, having to chase down a waitress and ask for things such as grated cheese, bread and such is just DISAPPOINTING and totally ruined the experience. I thought menu was very limited, over priced and true disappointment.

Service was impeccable. Very pleasant wait staff. Of all the dishes I sampled the best one was the Mushroom Pizza. Great crust from a wood fired oven, and perfect charring. Could have possibly used a bit more truffle oil as I could not taste it. But that's a very minor taste matter not a criticism of the execution which was flawless. I would skip the hearts of palms that were fried. A bland dish with little contrasting flavor of the supplied sauce. Everyone else at the table were pleased with their selections including the Pork Chop, the Curry dish, salads with Italian style anchovies (Cesars), and Coconut cake. Social distancing was observed as the customer traffic in the place was light that particular night. I would definitely go back. The house selection of glass wines were also very good. You would have to look hard to find a fault (albeit picky and minor) to gripe about this restaurant. The owner's attention to detail is very obvious.

This restaurant was a recommendation from the bartender at the hotel that I stayed at. Upon arrival, it was such a cute entry and had a very warm atmosphere. Our server did a great job making suggestions, checking on us and the food was delicious. I would recommend this location and would absolutely visit again.

We went there based on the reviews. We were there for a concert. The food and drinks were very good. My husband had the salmon and I had the caribean lobster tail. Both dishes were wonderful. Appetizers were good too. I ordered a specialty drink but subbed out gin for vodka and it was good. We weren't crazy about the coconut cake, not moist and coconut enough. Our waitress was nice but new and not knowledgeable about menu. However, we would eat there again. Bill was about $120 plus tip. We thought for the portion size and quality of the food it was reasonable.

So we're in Reading, PA for the Chicago concert (highly reccommended) and decided to have dinner in town. We chose Judy's On Cherry based on reviews and its proximity to the Santander center. I have traveled all over the globe and can say for sure that this meal ranks up with the best. I ordered the Frenched Pork Chop with Truffle Cream and Roasted Mushrooms and it was fantastic. Following an incredible lemon chicken artichoke soup and the pork chop I decided to give desert a try. WOW, the banana cream pie was out of this world. We loved the atmosphere and artsy decor. Definitely coming back.

Was in town from out of state for a funeral and looking for some where to eat dinner on Friday night. We were actually looking for another restaurant when we came upon Judys. What an awesome find . Food was amazing, service was amazing, …… just a great place ! The focaccia bread was literally the best we’ve ever had . If we are ever in Reading again we will definitely stop at Judys.
