Went to Ali Baba for dinner with wife and a friend. Our waitress was quite friendly and food was good albeit not exceptional. The service was really substandard however. Took a loooong time to initially be served. Waitress brought dinners while we were still eating...More

I don't know what happened to this (formerly) wonderful restaurant. We used to really enjoy eating at Ali Baba. Over the last couple of years, however, it has gone downhill. We went tonight and have finally decided not to go back anymore. The ground lamb...More

The koozi was ground lamb with rice and peas inside a wrap of filo (or phylo). In other words, en croute, which I always enjoy. It came with either a salad or a big bowl of yogurt. I had the yogurt. It went well with...More

Tried one of the lentil soups which came with some pita bread. It was tasty and filling. For my main, I got moussaka, which was about 4" x 4" x 2" (which I think is a large piece). The bill came to $21 before tax....More

One of the best middle eastern places I have eaten at sence I was in the middle east. Well worth the visit. It's off the regular path. But you won't be sorry. And there are some nice little shops in the area.

This restaurant is a very good middle eastern food establishment that has been around for a long time. There is a reason for it! It’s one of the best in casual dining in Pittsburgh. The food is well-prepared and tasty. The service has never been...More

I had some meals here 20 years ago when I worked on a project at Mellon Institute of Science. I remember it being good and reasonable priced. Just visited it again for lunch with my kids last week and came to the same conclusion.

Have eaten at Ali Baba many times, but not for a while. Decided to eat there before a nearby concert. First, the positives: love their baba ganoush, with the right blend of oil and lemon; the mudjadara was good. Service was friendly and prompt. But...More

Hadn’t visited Ali Baba since college days and decided to take our children on a recent visit to Oakland. The inside decor and has been updated recently and the space has really opened up. All four of us ordered some version of lamb. While all...More
