Some reviews on here are clearly not for this Mia Madre. They don't have a bar or drink specials as it's BYOB and they don't have another location. Food is always super fresh and delicious and the portions are very large.

Finally tired of making meals so we decided to order the take out special for 4.. The ziti was more noodles and sauce than anything but still yummy, the meatballs were awesome and the salad dressing was amazing! Even had enough leftovers for all of...us to have for lunch next day. Also note they are taking every precaution to keep everyone safe and healthy so adding to my list of go to’s! Can’t wait to try out other menu options!More

We went to Mia Madre a few weeks ago on a visit to Pittsburgh from New York and found that it rivals some of the best Italian restaurants we've been to in NYC. The chicken dishes such as the Chicken Romano and Chicken Parmesan were...outstanding. We would also recommend the pasta dishes with Alfredo sauce, which was incredibly flavorful (as someone who does not typically enjoy Alfredo sauce). Would recommend branching out from the predictable dishes and sampling the more obscure options on their large menu as well.More

The food here is very good. There were five in our party and everyone enjoyed their meal. It's a BYOB, so remember to bring your wine, although $9 per bottle corkage fee is high for a place that doesn't have a liquor license. The entrees...were all at least average size, and maybe a little larger. The high prices are offset a bit by the fact that each entree includes a nice salad. The service is friendly and attentive. Parking is easy.More

We are regulars at the Avalon location. One earlier reviewer from 2015 must have had an outlier of an evening. Kat's review seems to be from the old restaurant in Kennedy Township and that is long gone. They are back in Avalon. We've never had...bad service. The wait staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The prices are reasonable and the food is great. Lovely neighborhood trattoria.More

Mia Madre is a charming byob place with good service and great food. It's worth checking out. Pittsburgh has some wonderful restaurants in special little neighborhoods.

We dine here often so this is a combination of the last three or so dining opportunities at Mia Madre's. Chef Al not only sings with the voice of great opera singers from the past (hopefully someone in your party has a birthday to be...celebrated to hear Chef) but he cooks with the delicious blend of old family Italian food and a dedication to how the old family made a family dinner memorable. Couple this with Sherry, Alex Jr( Martini ) and all the rest of the staff and you have a really nice night. The food is great from zucchini appetizer to the cannoli or limoncello you will love it. The only negative is they are doing so well, on the weekends particularly, you must be patient as the servers can only do so much. BYOB is another plus at $8 per bottle and CASH ONLY. Go and enjoy!!!!More

Everything about our visit was top notch. We dined with friends we hadn’t seen for awhile, and it was just like sitting down for a family meal. Appetizers, salad, entree and dessert were all fantastic. Highly recommend the veal and peppers. It is cash only...and byob.More

I'd read reviews about this place so took a friend there for her birthday. I had the chicken piccata which was wonderful. She had a pasta dish which she liked and it was huge. The service was fast and very friendly It was a lovely...experience!More
