After riding the Monongahela Incline on a late Monday morning we wandered up Shiloh St. with lunch in mind. It was a little early for most places to be open but when we got near the end of the street we noticed J&J with a...sign for all-day breakfast. We decided to give it a try and it didn’t disappoint. It was warm and homey and comfortable. The portions were large, the waitstaff was friendly and the clientele was local. I recommend the Mixed Grille for a filling breakfast, but the Meatloaf Stack would have been a great call for lunch. The food was a little slow coming out due to a mixup in the back with handwritten tickets, otherwise this probably would have been a 5-star review.More

We're from Florida (5 of us) and were in the Pittsburgh area to attend a wedding. Had the pleasure of finding this restaurant for breakfast one morning. We were greeted with a "good morning" and smile upon entering and seated right away. Breakfast was delicious...- nothing left on our plates. Definitely a great hometown restaurant! Great food & great service.More

I was staying at a nearby apartment for a few days and was walking in the neighborhood looking for a hot breakfast. At first, it looked like the place was closed, but luckily they were open. I had their breakfast burrito two mornings in a...row and then had the veggie omelet. Everything was delicious, the coffee was good and the service was attentive.More

Kind folk and comfortable atmosphere. No rush and sat at the counter with my daughter for breakfast. Huge variety or choices.

Small , but very good breakfast. Portion size was good as well. Service was good considering there were only 2 girls working , 1 cooking the other waiting on customers , clearing the tables and handling takeout. (Lack of staffing due to nobody wanting to...work , COVID lazy people). Only down fall would be the on street pay parking.More

Just a simple, cafe-style restaurant within walking distance of the Mon Incline. It isn't fancy but it is charming. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Their breakfast menu was very long and packed with creative choices. I'm decisive and had trouble settling on just one...choice. Portions were large and everything tasted great. They grind, smoke, roast their own meats. It shows. We would go back and take friends with us.More

We regularly eat at this diner on Sunday mornings. They try to change up their menu with specials. A lot of the food is typical Pittsburgh fare, but always hot and tasty. We regularly enjoy the reuben sandwich, shrimp & fries in a basket, cheeseburger...quesadilla, Eggs Benedict among others. Wait staff is friendly and helpful and good at remembering you. My husband has issues with shellfish, so they are always careful to clean the grill or use separate pans for his food. Be aware that if there is a Steeler game, it may take a while to get a table or to get your food. Games are usually on the TV with the sound off and subtitles on. They do take-out as well. Only breakfast and lunch, closing around 4 p.m.More

The people that run this restaurant are so kind and so helpful. They even sat down and how old a wonderful conversation about anything. Their ice cream sunday was very good and very reasonably priced compared to the ice cream store around the corner

“Treat your friends like family, and your family like friends!” This phrase is on their menu, and the service here reflects that absolutely! Super friendly service. And the food is great. I had eggs benedict and my wife avocado toast both super yummy! If you...are visiting mt Washington this is a great stop for breakfastMore

Looking for breakfast after riding the Monongahela Incline? Try this great little family diner just a short walk along Shiloh Street. It's a gem. I had the Pulled Pork & eggs, which sounded a little odd for breakfast, but so glad I did. The staff...were all friendly and welcoming. This corner diner is just a great example of what a neighborhood place should be.More

Great neighborhood restaurant with really good service and tasty food. The bacon was delicious and their gravy was to die for! The family commitment shows in the quality of the food and service. Patriotic and welcoming atmosphere.

Had the avacado toast special and it was very good. Didn't realize it came with an egg on each and tomato salad. Very good service and reasonable pricing

We have eaten here 3 or 4 times and it was always excellent. We are here 12/16 and the service was ok but the food was terrible. Sausage and gravy was not recognizable as something that I have eaten many times before. I’ve had better...at the hotel and they poured it out of a bag. The corned beef hash was dry and stringy. The scrambled eggs with sausage was so cold that the cheese never melted. Won’t make the trip up the hill go the junk again.More

The restaurant is small and busy on Sunday right after church. Food is good but they must be cooking it in a Easy-Bake Oven. We have been here multiple times and takes over an hour to get your food. Probably will be the last time...we come here because of this. I would give five stars for the food but one star for the cooks quicknessMore
