The new York strip steak was excellent. Well cooked- to medium rare-. the tastiest NY strip I've had in a while. Definitely better than the chains. Reservations are recommended. They have a nice selection of homemade desserts.
Sadly this place did not live up to expectations for us.
I read the other reviews and saw the photos and was excited to go to Freeport Restaurant especially since it was #1 in North East. Unfortunately it was barely average quality. It looks like...a quaint family owned restaurant/dinner nothing fancy but that made me even more exciting waiting for our homemade meals to arrive. My son got a bacon cheeseburger that was dry and was definitely a premise patty. The topping were fresh and he LOVED the bacon on it but the burger was poor quality.
My other son ordered the fish sandwich and was happy with it and the fresh fries that came with it. I was hopeful order the “Stuffed Scrod with Crabmeat” Special and didn’t even mine the wait hopeful that it would melt in your mouth. Well the scrod was ok but the “crabmeat” stuffing was imitation crab meat mixed with some dry stuffing breading.
If you say “crabmeat” it should be actual crabmeat. So it was just not good. It was just disappointing.
The staff was very nice and the believe me we wanted to LOVE it but our meals were not worth returning. 😥More
A group of six "oldtimers" decided to meet at the Freeport for lunch last week. First time most of us had dined there. What we discovered was great dishes and dessert. Three of the group ordered perch, one in the perch sandwich, two the perch...basket. If you don't want the bread, the basket gives you an extra filet of perch. One ordered the largest BLT sandwich I had ever seen. He went home with half of it. The desserts were also great. I had a chocolate cheesecake that was superb. Service was a little slow but there were six of us during the busy lunch hour. All of us are planning a return trip.More
Met some friends for dinner for the first time at Freeport Restaurant and had an okay time. The staff was friendly and the food was solid Americana fare but the service was extremely slow. The table next to us got seated after us and their...food way before us. Plus the waitress failed to check on us after we started eating and had to get another waiter to help us get drink refills and more sauce. Good enough to go back for day to day fare.More
this appears to be a family run place, very busy, and popular with the locals. Was told the prime rib is great, but the serving size and price didn't agree with me. The food was good and moderately priced, otherwise. I'd go here again...
When someone finally took our order which seemed like forever and it wasn't busy, I got the feeling it was late, 7:30 and they were tired. The Manager was busy hobnobbing with friends and just kept looking at us but didn't bother to take an...order. A young lady finally did and the food was great when it did come.More

We did not have reservations and it was on a Friday night. We probably waited about 30 minutes. The wait to eat outside was longer than the inside dining room because it was a warm August night when we were there.
