Four of us, two couples went for an early dinner at 4:30 Friday with reservations. Seated immediately by a hostess who acted overworked even though the dinner crowd had not arrived. I ordered the crab bisque which arrived lukewarm and had a skim coating already forming on the surface. My temporary new years resolution is not to complain so I didn’t. I had the large size prime rib ordered medium, baked potato and cole slaw. Prime rib showed up medium well and the baked potato was 1/2 the size of the one at the next table. Cutting into the prime rib I suspected it was going to be tough and I was not disappointed. Unable to finish the rib - it was just too tough to chew and enjoy. Looks like the dog eats well tonight. Cole slaw was excellent - cold, tasty and large portion. Wife had haddock which was large and very tasty. Bread pudding for dessert which was also excellent. Other couple had the filet and lobster which they rated very good. I guess I will give it another try, but I sure won’t be ordering the prime rib!

Came here after a friend recommended it. Very, very pleased. Chicken marsala was presented beautifully, mashed potatoes were "real" and crabcake had no shells in at all. Waitress was exceptional and was out in the parking lot with our container that we left at the table before we had our seat belts on. This has never happened before.
Greek salad was the best I have had anywhere, not extremely salty like other places. We will be returning for our anniversary dinner.

Best black and blue burger I have ever had, pasta dish was also good. French onion soup could have been much richer with deeper flavor. Their over 65 menu is very varied and price includes your drink and desert.

eSo we have been going here for over 20 yars and always loved it. Not so much after our last visit. They apparently were cited for serving under-age guests alcohol. This led to our being treated like teenagers (we are in our 60's), with my wife not being served wine because she did not have her driver's icense with her - and no other proof was accepted. We were also told that if I shared my drink with her the drinks would be removed from the table. Bad start, and I was angry enough to leave but it was my wifes birthday so we stayed. The quality of the meal has also suffered - mediocre salad (used to be all green, now white romain store bought), processed fries (used to be fresh), significantly trimmed down portions (my filet was almost half the usual size, and more expensive to boot), and none of the cookies they used to give out as a courtesy at the end of the meal. So sad when a favorite place goes down hill so quickly. Time to find a new favorite it seems.

Made a reservation but was not on the reservation list. Waited for a table for 20 minutes. After being seated we ordered a beer and glass of wine while looking over the menu. They needed to see ID first...then said I'm going to take your ID and scan it. Oh no you are not!! What is this? Never subjected to this before anywhere. Invasion of my privacy. Got up and left. Never returning. By the way, we are 70+ yrs old.

We have been coming to C&D for years from Lake Heritage Gettysburg. Has been one of my favorite restaurants, especially on special occasions when we bring 10-15 people. Or just Bev and I for half price bottle wine Wednesdays. Food is great and friendly staff. So what's my problem... We came in yesterday, ordered our wine and was told I needed to show ID. Are you serious I'm 76 yrs. old. We now card everyone I was told. Discussed I threw open my wallet and showed the license. Nope not good enough you have to take it out and we scan it. Holy crap.... at that point I should have said stick it. I haven't had to prove I am old enough to have a glass of wine in 50 years, At 76 yrs old I should be treated with respect not humiliated and treated like a teenager, The more I sat there and stared at that stupid sign the more disturbed I got. I got up and left halfway through the meal. I should have never stayed and saved $80.
Will I return, most likely not. Unless the gang has a special event and I want to be with the group. If I do I can tell you this . I will not be carded again. I will order water, unless you card for that.

Services was very good but can't same the same for the over priced meal . Caesar salad had very little dressing, and little salad, paltry serving of french fries, crab legs while plentiful were dry (old?) and wine had little taste.

We LOVE C&D!! The crab bisque is really really good. I always order the bacon wrapped scallops as an appetizer and have never ordered double as my meal. We had the Oysters Rockefeller and the Beef Wellington appetizers. For desert I had the Pineapple Foster. I like banana better but presentation was beautiful! I ordered an apple crisp for dessert and wish I had the crème brûlée instead. The atmosphere here is upscale. Not black tie or anything like that but it's not an Applebees. Full bar as well as a separate bar in the lower half for a more casual type meal. It's called The Rocks. I'm not sure if they have the crab bisque down there and that would sway my choice back upstairs.

Recently met friends here for lunch. The four of us agreed that we'll try somewhere else for our next lunch. The liver & onions was a disappointment to the two who had it. One got halfway through and decided to forego the rest.
The Saturday Special was BBQ ribs with fries and coleslaw. At best, the ribs were 'average'. The fries were tepid - may have sat in a warmer before being served. The slaw rated an 'excellent'.
The crab bisque was forgettable! It lacked pieces of crab. There was some shredded crab but certainly far from an abundance. The Caesar Salad with shrimp was good though it lacked the ordered anchovies.
While we told our server that we were in no hurry, there was no reason to ignore us. Yes, the service was slow. On the plus side, our server was very pleasant.
Overall, 3-stars may be a bit generous.

I visited this restaurant with my friends at 7:30 pm (I had a reservation). We were walked to a table by the host and not a single word was said to us. We waited for about 20 minutes and none of the employees acknowledged us. They didn’t offer drinks or get our order. This restaurant must be racist towards people of color because I’m Hispanic.

I have been coming here since it was opened, and it was always very very good. I treated my Mother last Wednesday, December 22nd. I got her the broiled stuffed shrimp and apparently they changed the recipe. They were not good. Hopefully you will change back to the original recipe. The stuffed shrimp was my FAVORITE!!!

Great restaurant for a night out... always good food and drinks. Yes, they have to card for drinks but so what? Is it really that big of a deal when they're just protecting themselves rather than having an issue with the Control Board? And yes, I'm older too... It takes a minute if that... again, great place with great food!

Letter to the editor or the opinion column..........
It's a sad day in America when a 77 year old man has to be carded to get a drink at a 'fine dining' restaurant! Understandably, restaurants must be careful they are not serving minors but come on isn't my white hair and wrinkles proof enough. And if I am not the driver and I don't have a license with me, I am denied a glass of wine to enjoy with my 'fine dining' dinner. Come on C&D wake up and stop harassing the very patrons who support your business!

There ID policy is ridiculous! At the age of 66 could not have a glass of wine because I did not have my ID with me as we were on our way to a ghost walk at Gettysburg so I did not want to carry a purse. After being told I could not be served did not even ask me if I wanted something else to drink, so all I had was my water! They were more interested in their Halloween costumes then taking care of patrons.

they didn't card an undercover agent now they card all. WHAT A TURN off and they took our license also. We are 65. not happy
