Took advantage of the need to be in Bala Cynwyd to stop in for lunch. Getting seated was quick, ordering took a little longer, but once I ordered food came quickly. Delicious, Ceasar salad and half pastrami special. Good food, done well in an old fashioned style deli.

Corned beef special, Pastrami special and hot pastrami with cup of cabbage soup. Sandwiches were perfect. Hot cabbage beef soup also the best. Free pickle bar. Fairly priced for size and quality. Good server and space.

NYC has Katz's, Philly has Hymies. Pickle bar, Dr. Browns cream soda and amazing soups, salads and overstuffed Jewish Deli sandwiches. Priced fairly and on-site parking. Cabbage soup, pickles and sour tomatoes, and slaws from the free bar. No one leaves hungry or unsatisfied. Like Katz's it's an institution. Beer available. Many booths and tables. Corned beef, Pastrami, Roast beef, etc. etc.

Wonderful deli with very large portions. I shared the corned beef and pastrami sandwich with our friend and it was more than enough. My husband had the brisket sandwich (and ate it all, much to his chagrin later on-it was delicious but too big for 1 meal).
Service was excellent. Ro was our waitress and she was wonderful. She knew I was starving and put a rush on our orders. And she kept coming back to check in on us.

Corned Beef Special and Pastrami Special ( on rye with Russian dressing and coleslaw.) Pickle bar, potato salad and soft drinks. YUM , Best Jewish deli in Philly area, Roomy booth seating and very good servers. Short wait at lunchtimes. Reasonable prices. Parking on street and lot in rear. Sandwiches are well stuffed. Good bakery desserts.

Stopped in for a nostalgic lunch. I attended Saint Joseph's University in the late 1970's and fondly remember brunches at Hymie's on Sunday mornings. I had the Maizo Ball soup and open faced tuna melt.
The food, service and ambiance were terrific. Just as I remembered.
Thanks Lou and team!

Hymie's Cabbage Soup ~ The Greatest !
I just stopped in to pick up my favorite soup, and took it home. It's still as great as ever. Hymie's cabbage soup with beef is one of the tastiest soups I've ever had in my entire life... and I've lived a long one ! If you've never had it, you're missing one of the culinary world's all time winners - an absolute delight. I could eat it every day. Thank you, Hymie's !

Food is good. The hostess who works the lunch shift is mean and constantly gives customers attitude. I come here once a week and spend a lot of money at this place. Will have to rethink going forward.

Waited 20 minutes for one bagel to go. Then it turned out it had been sitting behind the cashier for 15. I repeatedly asked the man who took my order to check on it. When he finally did, I learned it had been sitting behind the cashier. They asked my name but never called it.

Once a year we are in the area and I always make this a stop with my sisters. I love the bagel combo which includes Lox and White Fish Salad plus 2 bagels. A glorious meal.
I just wish we lived nearby so we could heat here more often.

I do takeout from Hymie’s when I am in the area. Simply the best deli in the Philly area. Their corned beef and pastrami is sliced thin and you get plenty of it. I can usually make another sandwich out of it!

The pastrami was house made, thinly sliced, salty, smoky and savory. The corned beef and coleslaw on rye was the best I ever ate, and I lived in New York for five years!! The rye bread was as light and soft as a cloud!

In past pre-pandemic years, Hymie's had been one of my favorite places to eat. The cabbage soup was, and still is, one of my favorite taste delights. BUT... Things have changed - and I'm sorry to say, not for the better. My wife and I dined there on 6/21/21, at 3:00-ish, so as to beat the crowds, and we did. We ordered soups and sandwiches. Our waittress did not check with us during the meal, or I'd have complained about my sandwich. So, I'll do it here. I ordered roast beef on rye, with lettuce, tomato, and onion. The FLAVOR of the beef was good, once I FOUND it ! This so-called roast beef sandwich consisted of lots of the condiments - lettuce, tomato and onion - and very little roast beef...! I was extremely disappointed. In past years, any meat sandwich at Hymie's was famous (like its NYC counterparts) for very generously piling the meat high. I'm sure I'm not alone in saying, this is a large part of what I always looked forward to whenever I went to Hymie's. Well apparently, those days are gone ! I took home a menu, on which it says - in writing - their sandwiches consist of "10 ounces" of whatever meat. So, my half sandwich should have been 5 ounces of roast beef. I'm quite sure my sandwich was only a meager 3 ounces - at the most ! Is this a deliberate cut-back, like so many restaurants these days, resulting from the pandemic ? I see most of Hymie's menu prices have increased. An example is that a HOT DOG is $5.25...!!! Is it made from a GOLDEN PIG ? Give me a break ! Further complaints are: The Pickle Bar has been reduced to half its size and deleted everything thing else previously included, such as potato salad, etc; Kitchen staff plays loud annoying music on a trebly boom box while you're eating ! Hymie's, if you want my return business, you'd better get back to the way it used to be.
