Waited 20 minutes for one bagel to go. Then it turned out it had been sitting behind the cashier for 15. I repeatedly asked the man who took my order to check on it. When he finally did, I learned it had been sitting behind...the cashier. They asked my name but never called it.More

NYC has Katz's, Philly has Hymies. Pickle bar, Dr. Browns cream soda and amazing soups, salads and overstuffed Jewish Deli sandwiches. Priced fairly and on-site parking. Cabbage soup, pickles and sour tomatoes, and slaws from the free bar. No one leaves hungry or unsatisfied. Like...Katz's it's an institution. Beer available. Many booths and tables. Corned beef, Pastrami, Roast beef, etc. etc.More

The pastrami was house made, thinly sliced, salty, smoky and savory. The corned beef and coleslaw on rye was the best I ever ate, and I lived in New York for five years!! The rye bread was as light and soft as a cloud!

Corned beef special, Pastrami special and hot pastrami with cup of cabbage soup. Sandwiches were perfect. Hot cabbage beef soup also the best. Free pickle bar. Fairly priced for size and quality. Good server and space.

In past pre-pandemic years, Hymie's had been one of my favorite places to eat. The cabbage soup was, and still is, one of my favorite taste delights. BUT... Things have changed - and I'm sorry to say, not for the better. My wife and I...dined there on 6/21/21, at 3:00-ish, so as to beat the crowds, and we did. We ordered soups and sandwiches. Our waittress did not check with us during the meal, or I'd have complained about my sandwich. So, I'll do it here. I ordered roast beef on rye, with lettuce, tomato, and onion. The FLAVOR of the beef was good, once I FOUND it ! This so-called roast beef sandwich consisted of lots of the condiments - lettuce, tomato and onion - and very little roast beef...! I was extremely disappointed. In past years, any meat sandwich at Hymie's was famous (like its NYC counterparts) for very generously piling the meat high. I'm sure I'm not alone in saying, this is a large part of what I always looked forward to whenever I went to Hymie's. Well apparently, those days are gone ! I took home a menu, on which it says - in writing - their sandwiches consist of "10 ounces" of whatever meat. So, my half sandwich should have been 5 ounces of roast beef. I'm quite sure my sandwich was only a meager 3 ounces - at the most ! Is this a deliberate cut-back, like so many restaurants these days, resulting from the pandemic ? I see most of Hymie's menu prices have increased. An example is that a HOT DOG is $5.25...!!! Is it made from a GOLDEN PIG ? Give me a break ! Further complaints are: The Pickle Bar has been reduced to half its size and deleted everything thing else previously included, such as potato salad, etc; Kitchen staff plays loud annoying music on a trebly boom box while you're eating ! Hymie's, if you want my return business, you'd better get back to the way it used to be.More

Took advantage of the need to be in Bala Cynwyd to stop in for lunch. Getting seated was quick, ordering took a little longer, but once I ordered food came quickly. Delicious, Ceasar salad and half pastrami special. Good food, done well in an old...fashioned style deli.More

The last several orders that i have placed over the phone for pick up have been completely wrong. And unfortunately, the manager (dave) blames the customer for this issue. Apparently I didnt check the bags more carefully.

Server was nice. Food was mediocre. Less nova & bagel than Ben & Irv ( our favorite deli). But when I went to pay the bill, I asked for 2 rainbow cookies from the counter case $2.47 (overpriced but..). Paid $42 for 2 meals &...app. When outside my dining partner said the heavy set man who touched all the cash & register touched our cookies with his bare fingers! I threw the cookies away! Happy flu season. If they brazenly IGNORE HEALTH CODES in the front then what happens in the kitchen!More

OMG! We love this place! It has everything you look for in a good deli: pickle bar, great sandwiches, quick/friendly service, comfortable seating, and humongous/delicious desserts! Hymie's never disappoints. My favorite is the shlemiel!

On my way to the eastern shore of VA from Scranton , PA I drove 30 miles out of the way to get 6 oz. Regular Lox (salted kind) not Nova. I use a walker so getting a parking space, walking to the restaurant and...waiting for my order was not easy but I preserved because I knew it would be great treat for my sister. Unfortunately when I stopped to see a friend in Delaware I put the food in her fridge and the receipt dropped out ,low and behold though I ordered Regular, checked it was regular before paying , it was 4oz. Of Nova. I also ordered 6oz. Of pastrami and corned beef and got 4oz. I called and spoke with the manager who told me to bring it back. I was already 30-40 miles away. He was rude and condescending. Not at all helpful. He indicated well you’ll eat it anyway I am sure. I can buy prepackaged Nova lox for a lot less then $13.99 for 4oz. at Wegman’s . While I previously enjoyed eating in I certainly no longer recommend it due to dreadful customer service.More

Our family often ordered take out at over $100.00 per visit. Picked up food for 9 of us. I must eat gluten free. The order read it back to me, correctly. Sandwich was on regular bread. Another must not have cheese. Receipt stated as such....Lots of cheese throughout salad. Dressing on side totally omitted. I called to tell them. Stopped back after our visit. Manager very rude. Refused to refund anything but the returned sandwich, as we had thrown away the salad. He said he did not believe me. I told him I was disappointed in him. He responded he is proud of himself. I do tell others about the arrogance and more than once our order has been wrong, and we now go elsewhere.More

Waitresses are not only interested in your order but in your well being! The pickle bar has a great variety of picked cucumbers, tomatoes, cole slaw and potato salad. It’s like Merion’s non-alcoholic version of “Cheers”.

Back from Florida means a dinner at Hymies. All had the half and half special. Cup of soup and half deli sandwich. Start with a complimentary make your own salad bar. Variety of pickles, spears, whole and sliced, potato salad and slaw were our choice...from a large selection of deli delicacies. Next the cabbage soup with brisket : the best anywhere, period. Hot, delicious and chock full of beef and cabbage, perfectly spiced. Sandwiches selected from a substatial list were cornedbeef and tongue; exceent as was the fresh rye bread. Diet Dr. Brown cream sodas rounded out the top deli food for many miles around. Cheers for Hymies.More

This is the very best deli around. The Ryebread is fresh and moist and succulent. The corn beef special and pastrami special or unsurpassed. The meat is always sweet and perfectly pickled and the dressing with the coleslaw and the Russian dressing is terrific. Their...white fish platter is also a treat and the locks is hand cut and then nova is tender and delicious. The whitefish salad is also incredible and fresh and leaves no fishy taste and the whitefish itself is moist You can’t go wrong eating their their prices are also incredibly reasonable and the service is friendly and knowledgeable PS don’t forget about their wonderful pickle bar with the coleslaw and the multiple pickles including the tomato pickle which is unlimited. Highly recommend.More
