Large menu, reasonable prices, delicious meals, friendly environment. We were so glad we happened to stop here for dinner. Excellent all round!
Always looking to try a new restaurant, I found Tavern 52 on line. The menu was appealing and the location was not far, so I made a dinner reservation for 7:15 PM. We arrived on time and approached the unattended reception stand. The restaurant was...moderately busy but we saw a number of open booths, as well as space around the bar. Two female and one male employee walked by us, as we were obviously waiting, without any acknowledgement. They were serving and carrying plates and trays back to the kitchen. It almost became comical that we were being ignored. After 10 minutes, one female employee told us in passing that there was a slight wait. She said we could keep waiting by the desk or wait at the bar. We went to the bar, ordered and received drinks, and continued to wait. We saw other customers enter. Some were sent to wait. A few were seated. The same employees bustled by us a number of times. At about 7:40, I asked the girl who spoke with us the approximate wait time. She said she didn’t know but would ask Mike. Several minutes later we were told we would be seated now and we were led to one of the booths that was unoccupied when we entered. We were seated at 7:45. Our waiter was Mike. The rest of this review is completely positive. The food and service were both excellent. My wife started with a salad while I had the French Onion Soup. Salad was crisp and fresh. Soup was delicious and served piping hot. Entrees included the Cioppino with a side of pasta for my wife and the Pastrami Reuben for me. The portions were generously large and the food was delicious, attractive and well presented. We both left with take home boxes. The prices were very reasonable I don’t know if they were in a short staff situation that night or what would have caused the delay in seating a confirmed reservation, but we will return as we considered this an excellent restaurant.More
We stayed at the hotel next door and their own restaurant is closed due to the virus. They're sending people here. We had a fair meal including drinks.
We haven’t eaten there or taken food out in a long while. Being from New York we were in the mood for some veal cutlet parmigiana and found they are one of the only restaurants nearby that have this. We ordered the veal on a...sandwich along with lobster roll and linguine and clams. Curbside pickup was really fast and the food was fantastic. If you live in the area I would recommend giving this place a try.More
I took my parents to Station 52 for dinner expecting an average dinner as it is an average restaurant. My server was very nice and I want to make sure that is known. The issue came down to french fries, as silly as that sounds....The fries were soggy, dark brown (beyond acceptable), and tasted like burnt oil. My mom and I could not force ourselves to eat more than one bite. We told our waitress and told her that we were fine with them being bad, given them the benefit of assuming this is a rare mistake. She apologized and told her manager and he walked over as expected. What was unexpected was his demeanor. Instead of apologizing, he tried to belittle us and told us we did not know what we were talking about. Not only was he beyond aggressively unprofessional, he was incorrect in his "excuses". We were not even compensated for the food we did not eat. Funny thing is the manager stated that "the french fries are supposed to be like that". I did not know fries were supposed to taste like they were taken out of a gutter (should have taken photos). But I digress, I do not care that the fries were bad, it happens. I care about the way the manager verbally attacked my parents. I cannot wait to hear about this restaurant going under. You lost a family of paying customers that use to visit the restaurant twice a month. I will go out of my way to tell people not to visit Station 52 now for the disrespectful way you talked to my mother. P.S. the parking lot by the loading dock was covered in garbage blowing in the wind to the parking lot littering the adjacent areas. Also, reservations for a restaurant that is 3/4's empty is absurd yet hilarious. Hope you get your restaurants act together.More
Stopped in after Longwood Gardens on a Friday after 2pm. Place is clean, staff friendly. We both ordered the onion soup. $6.50 each. Which was delicious. Served in standard crock with melted cheese browned just right. The broth was perfect temperature, had good portion of...onion and bread in it. Would definitely recommend this dish. After the soup I had a grilled romaine salad $7.50. It was actually two pieces of romaine, grilled nicely with cheese crumbles drizzled over dish, dressing on the side, and a piece of bread. I enjoyed this very much too. Worth the stop!More
Gave this place a second chance. Fries were like cardboard. Onion rings greasy. Service was fine. Will never go back!
Definitely a must stop to or from Longwood. The sandwiches are outstanding, the cream of mushroom soup-perfect! Family oriented, staff is great! It was decorated so nicely for Christmas. Def a hidden gem. Only a few minutes from longwood, off of rt 1 on rt...52 next to Mendenhall inn. Never had a bad meal there. You won’t be disappointed.More
Stopped in for a quick bite to eat and watch the hockey game. I had heard good things since the ownership changed. The atmosphere is casual sports bar. I started with their small order of wings (5). Traditional Hot Buffalo which came with an extra...dish of sauce and a generous amount of celery and blue cheese dressing. While looking over the extensive menu for another snack, the owner/chef came out and introduced himself. He asked me if I liked shellfish (I was considering the steamed clams) then said “I’ll take care of you”. Soon he returned with a big bowl of Cioppino. The dish was packed with clams, mussels, shrimp, fish, all in a tasty red sauce with garlic bread. It was a very generous portion, which the chef “comped” me saying “Merry Christmas”. It was very tasty. The seafood was fresh, well cooked, and the sauce was rich and flavorful. I learned that this is a family business, the chef’s wife serves and their son tends bar. They were all such nice and welcoming people! I noticed some other food at the bar and the pizzas looked great, as did the cheesesteaks. Im sure I benefited by being there on the 23, and they had some fresh seafood to move through before the Christmas break, but as they said, they don’t use frozen foods. You can tell this family takes pride in what they do! Give them a try!More
We had great food at an acceptable price with great service! The staff is friendly and they give a real welcome home feeling. What else can you ask for?
Our yearly stop before Longwood Gardens. Warm, cosy atmosphere and great food! We especially enjoyed the cream of mushroom soup and the buffalo chicken pizza which was huge! Also good was the chicken picante. Our server Gina was professional, friendly and very attentive!
Came to Tavern 52 for drinks and after looking at the menu ordered dinner. The fabulous server Gina suggested our dinner choices and appetizers and she was spot in! Bacon wrapped shrimp, pene and clams, spinach ravioli and lobster ravioli. She was attentive to our...every need and very personable! The food was fabulous- we will definitely return. Thanks for a wonderful evening!More
Great atmosphere for meeting friends or watching your favorite game. Lots of TV's and plenty of room yet still feels wonderfully cozy. Great food and drink, and friendly owners that aim to please!
Met up with friends at the restaurants. Very nice bar and eating areas. A lot of TVs for all the sport fans. The menu offered a nice variety and it was good. Great place to relax have a drink and enjoy a great meal.
