Actually went to John J. Jeffries as a back up plan - the place we wanted to go was so crowded we couldn't get close to it. Worked out extremely well. Warmly greeted and promptly seated. Wait staff excellent. Knew the menu, gave advice when asked, and knew details of the day's special. I had a pulled pork over jonnie... More

Farm to table food. Fresh ingredients always make a difference. And the freshness of this food was incredible and it made the food definitely shine. I had the pheasant and my wife had the beef tenderloin and both were cooked and marinated perfectly. The vegetables that came with my pheasant were extremely fresh and were also the best tasting vegetable... More

Great food, the wait staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The bar was good also. I would go again if in town.

I had dinner at John J Jeffries recently with my daughter to celebrate her birthday. We both absolutely loved it. For me, it has become my new favorite restaurant in Lancaster, and there are some really good restaurants in Lancaster. To start, I had something called a soup duo--it was sweet corn bisque and tomato-onion bisque side by side in... More

Seriously who is this John J. Jeffries and how can I speak to him about the disappointing visit I had with my husband. Where do I even begin, first of all I went on a Friday where it appeared to be pretty busy which is fine I had reservations. Apparently the staff don't understand what "reservations" means because I reserved... More

Probably the worst steak that I have ever had!!' Advertises as using local produce and meats...if so they better buy elsewhere. Service and ambiance average, prices high.

This Resturant is so amazing with the options for gluten free dining! The chef is awesome and the staff is knowledgeable of gluten free. I believe 90% or more of the menu is gluten free! It is so nice to have such awesome food and sooooo many options! I can't wait to go back!

Unfortunately the only thing we will remember about this place is the parking. This was our first time here. We pulled into a parking lot next to the building. The signs read "no hotel or stadium parking" the restaurant was not mentioned. When we walked around to the restaurant we found out the restaurant was in the hotel, so we... More

My boyfriend and I were visiting the Lancaster area for my birthday weekend. The Lancaster Bed and Breakfast recommended this as one of their favorite restaurants, so we decided to try it out. This was by birthday meal and we both really enjoyed it. It seemed that a lot of people were celebrating as well the night we were there.... More

My husband and I go to John J. Jeffries for 90% of our special occasions. We've never had a bad experience. We've talked about going to other restaurants, because Lancaster is chock-full of great places, but for our anniversaries and such, we always come back to the same conclusion- why mess with a good thing? The only other restaurant experience... More

Description
During renovations, workers found in the floor beams a signed inspection stamp--November 5, 1890--with the name of tobacco inspector John J. Jeffries. We named the restaurant after him.

We’ve designed our menu based on local, seasonal, sustainable and organic agriculture and delicious recipes. Please join us and taste the difference of local farm-to-table sustainable cuisine in one of Lancaster's best fine dining restaurants.
As the Chefs and Owners of John J Jeffries, we believe you will find our passion for supporting local businesses and preserving the land we live on, to be contagiously obvious in how we run our restaurant.
All of our meats are raised locally, confinement-free on fresh green grass pastures. No hormones, antibiotics, steroids or forced-fertilization occurs.

Our produce is local organic or chemical free. We use local grass fed cream, butter and eggs.

We also provide sustainable seafood and support sustainable fisheries.
