This is technically 2 restaurants in one...El Serrano, which focuses on authentic Mexican dishes and Cultures which is tapas bar with more of a Peruvian influence. As a local, I can assure you this is the best upscale Mexican in town, and maybe in the South Central PA area. El Serrano has wonderful food and a Mexican garden/veranda atmosphere. I... More

This is so far the best representation of the Peruvian culture and cuisine, main courses as Lomo Saltado, Papa a la Huancaina and Ceviche are just exquisite. The atmosphere and colonial style makes your visit very comfortable and relaxing. Another thing you should try is the fried Ice Cream, it's big enough to share and pretty much delightful.

The decor and ambiance of this place was awesome! It's a unique blend of three dining options within one restaurant. We thought we were going to go with their Tapas menu, but opted for their Peruvian menu, and were glad we did. The Peruvian chicken was outstanding!!! I highly recommend. That you go here if you are anywhere near Lancaster.

I only say unexpected because I just saw it was "Latin cuisine" and assumed it was a typical Mexican restaurant. This was no fault of the restaurant. As soon as we got there it appeared more upscale than most Mexican restaurants me when I looked at the menu I saw it was Peruvian. They did have free chips and salsa... More

We especially like the nice tables for 2 in separate alcoves. Very nice. Food is really good and service is too. My daughter went to college in the area and it was and still is one of her favorites.

Description
If you haven't visited El Serrano along Lancaster's Columbia Avenue lately, you haven't visited El Serrano. Or, perhaps it is more appropriate to say, you haven't visited Peru. Every square inch of the Latin-American restaurant has been extensively redesigned, upgraded and refurbished authentically, with architectural details similar to those of 150 years ago--to the point that stepping through its hand-carved mahogany doors is like entering a Peruvian hacienda. As owner Manuel Torres says, "it's like going on vacation."
