You can't associate anything about this fine dining gem with the fast food Checkers. Our Inn-keeper suggested we dine here and we will be forever grateful. He suggested a dinner of small plates because their "food is phenomenal!" We had the salted flash-fried, squid marinated in saki. Wow! Then the Peking Duck won ton Tacos, fantastic. We finished with the... More

Almost impossible to get in without a reservation so I suggest you get one. The food is amazing the service is great as well. I had the Char fish that was a special that evening and it was unbelievable? Creamy, butter like flavor. The only thing I didn't like about the restaurant is the tables are too close to each... It was a family dinner. Company was more important than food , yet we were impressed by the quality and quantities.

Checkers is an excellent dining option for those looking for a slightly more upscale experience. Our recent visit had some high points and low ones as well. We were cordially greeted by both the front of house staff and our server. Wine selection is solid and fair on pricing - especially given PA's ridiculous regulations. We selected a good value... I have long been a Checkers fan.....but something is missing presently. The menu is more limited than ever and has remained the same mostly. I would love to see some new offerings (but don't ever lose the Duck Tacos!). There are some GREAT tables and cool spaces to sit but some of the tables are far less comfortable/interesting. Our party... More

As others have said here, Checker's made a number of changes in their move to this location from James & Mulberry and . . . not all were welcome by this patron. The menu and portion sizes have shrunk, sandwiches that you could order at dinner are gone and prices are higher than ever. It was our impression these moves... More

The Asian manager had the personality of a Drill Sargent . The servers are not allowed to introduce themselves . Management does not them to be involved in your experience , LOL. Prices high, food quality just average.

Checkers is a cool spot with excellent food. The decor is inviting, and the bathrooms are very elegant. I like the wall filled with old black and white photographs of Lancaster. I recommend the sweet potato fries for an appetizer. The fries were hot and plump and came with a tasty spicy dipping sauce. For an entrée, I ordered the... More

We were weary from walking around town all morning, and this restaurant was near our hotel. It was quite a bit fancier than what we were seeking, but the items on the menu lured us in. It seemed to be a place where "Ladies Lunched" or went for a special occasion. But even though we were very out of place... More

We had snapper and hanger steak. Both were terrific. Great service and very knowledgeable wait staff who explained the difference to me between a hanger steak and a flat iron steak
