Bent on Food is a must stop for fabulous food. I had the Burger with chips with a beautiful Pinot Grigio and my lunch companion had the Halloumi and Pear Salad with a cappuccino. Everything was perfect. You can tell from the flavours and the presentation that Bent on Food are passionate about food.

Yesterday I enjoyed a wonderful lunch at what is my favourite café with friends. The service was impeccable and our meals and coffees were delicious. I appreciated the strong commitment to COVID-19 guidelines, I felt very safe eating there. It is wonderful to see so many local producers supported by the café and I always love the array of food items for sale on their shelves, many under their own label. Following lunch I visited the Cafe’s sister store Bent on Life, where I was able to purchase some exciting gifts for family as well as myself! I highly recommend taking the time to visit this beautiful café, you will never be disappointed there.

It was an extremely hot afternoon and getting close to closing time when we visited with our 2 little dogs. We planned to sit outside but they said they had a seperate section that would be ok to sit inside where it was much cooler. So kind of the staff to let us do that. They had a bowl of water for our fur babies and we had an awesome cup of coffee and a delicious GF carrot cake and cheesecake for my husband. The service was so friendly. I would love to go back for lunch one day when we are in the area again.

We order sour dough raisin toast. First it was like eating dry card board, Burnt and not Pleasant, we I paid the bill i told them it was not edible, the toast cost $8.00 for two very small slices, they took a big $4.00 off our bill. Very bad attitude

Dear Marcia,
I am sorry that you found our staff rude, but this is a very unusual remark considering you were served by one of our friendliest waitresses. It is not in her character be rude to a customer. When I questioned her, she felt that she tried to please you at every interaction, but you were finding our weather too cold and not enjoying your visit.
We use local sourdough in the cafe which is clearly stated on the menu, it is much firmer than white toast and also much more expensive to purchase as it is an artisan product. My front of house supervisor noted that you had eaten most of the meal, so she took one serve off. ($8)
I am sorry that you did not enjoy your experience or the locally made sourdough, and I hope that you enjoyed the rest of your stay and our weather warmed up a little for you.

Food was great.
Service was excellent, well staffed and well trained a credit to the business.
COVID safety implementation is extremely good.
Tables cleared and cleaned promptly.
The table had a number and QR code, when scanned showed a menu (with photo of food), allowed us to order and pay at the table. Excellent system in Covid times.
A very enjoyable experience.

My friend and I came for a night of live music, and were blown away by the vibe of this place. Such a good option for a night out! The menu was awesome and he cakes were a delight. Only negatives was that it was a very expensive for the serving sizes, which were quite small.

Great cafe and foodie haven with a family-friendly atmosphere, quirky decor and a focus on showcasing quality local produce.
Favourites like ham, cheese and tomato toasties are elevated thanks to great local ingredients, while the juicy hamburger and tasty chips came with a generous serve of delicious aioli. A gem.

As we approached Wingham my wife said "what's in Wingham". I answered (joking) "nothing!" having never been there before. How wrong I was! A lovely old style main street with interesting and quality shops. It was almost lunch time and we walked into Bent On Food. The staff were friendly and professional. The menu and specials were different from your normal lunch offerings in a good way. The special fig salad with locally sourced figs was great and my bacon and pancakes was excellent too. A lovely surprise that will have us stopping here again next time we pass through.

We went to Bent on Food with friends for lunch. We hadn’t booked and were lucky to get a seating.
The menu is extensive and makes you have to make some serious decisions as there are so many wonderful different options available.
Two of us decided to have the Smoked Slow Cooked Brisket Burger. It was unreal! My husband had the Spinach, Pumpkin, Feta and basil pesto wrap which he found very tasty. Another really enjoyed the Gado Gado salad while another had the beautifully presented Pear and Haloumi Salad.
We had a wonderful lunch with great food great drinks of Frappes, and beer and great service.
We sat inside but out the back there is seating and a fabulous new stage for live music. Looks awesome!
We shall return!

The busy local trade seemed to be confirmation of the reliable good value menu and service. We were certainly happy with it and the range of local products for sale, too, was impressive. We’d gladly recommend this for visit. Plum in the centre of town, as well.

Our family members took us to this cafe on a Saturday. Unfortunately we hadn't booked but we were accommodated at the tables out the front.
Menu offered a range of interesting options such that it was difficult to make a choice. We settled on the corn fritters which came with avocado and chilli jam, the smashed avocado which came with mushrooms, roast pumpkin and fetta and the beef and bacon burgers which came with chips but no bacon. Our waitress explained that there was bacon in the beef patty, which is why it looked pink, but if you wanted bacon slices that was an additional cost. We had one with and one without additional bacon. Unfortunately she didn't let us know about the blackboard specials which we noticed when we went into pay.
We each enjoyed our choices and agreed that the food had been very tasty and filling.
The young lady who appeared to be in charge and took our orders was very efficient though not overly welcoming, which may have been because the cafe was full and all were under pressure. Our food was slow coming out but ultimately worth the wait.
Coffee was also good.

Thanks so much for the four star review even though a few things went wrong. We appreciate you letting us know as this gives us an opportunity to rectify any issues. I am sorry that you weren’t told about the specials, it sounds like the staff were a bit rushed. We have had a number of staff off sick lately and that puts pressure on the others. Having said that, we strive to offer a warm friendly space for our customers, and this review has been highlighted to staff. We are sorry that we weren’t at our best that day, but we thank you for visiting and appreciate your feedback. We are pleased that you enjoyed your meals and coffee and hope to see you again soon.

Briefly stopped while driving through town but would detour back there again any chance to explore more of the menu. Everything appears to be home made and of a very high standard. Good coffee and cake and interesting sounding options. Place was spotless and well organised and staff were really helpful and friendly. Promotion of some local produce was very much appreciated. I wish more places would do this.They also had an interesting array of chutneys , and other gourmet items for purchase.

My granddaughter and I dined there this morning. Buttermilk pancakes with maple syrup and bacon were demolished, as was my excellent scrambled eggs. The service was impeccable. The young man that attended us was knowledgeable, courteous and very caring. Bent do not let him go! Also great jams and sauces to buy.

A friend and I stopped by for lunch. It was pleasant enough but a little disappointing. Our coffees were tasty enough but barely lukewarm, she got mine and I got hers (she's lactose intolerant) which could have had consequences - thankfully she has sugar, I don't - that's what alerted us to the mix up.
The corn fritters looked nice but were stodgy. The Gado Gado was not like anything I've experienced before - grilled potato slices, grated carrot, cherry tomatoes, haloumi and avocado??? Really?
Oh well, we enjoyed our time together, we were not rushed.

Sorry about the temperature of your coffees, the mix up and the super long delay in replying to your review.
The Gado Gado is a recipe of mine that I have developed after running cooking classes in my cookery school and taking cooking tours. We like to change things up at Bent on Food, we believe that food should always be changing to suit the season.
We apologise for the corn fritters, they are normally our most popular item on the menu, but we have had some difficulty at times with the corn and we are sorry, we will address. We would be happy to give you a credit or a refund if you would like to message us.

Always love coming back to this cafe when in the region. Seriously BEST COFFEE. Completely contactless, impeccable COVID-19 safe. And.. Eggs benny with house hollandaise, local eggs and smoked bacon is divine!!! .
