Great little restaurant. Food was delicious. Garlic butter prawns were great as was the pate. Steak was the best in Byron and so was the bouillabaisse. Brûlée was perfect as was the cheese selection. Waitress was passionate and spot on with her recommendations. You should try this place for excellent French food. We did and we loved it!

'The Petit Snail', a quaint little restaurant in the midst of Byron, did not disappoint. Upon arrival we were greeted with warmth (literally and metaphorically) and smiles. Our hostess made us feel so welcome by wishing my partner happy birthday and having our table especially decorated. We ordered the escargot, warm goat's cheese salad, and two steaks (one with mushroom... More

This place has great reviews. We found the owners to be friendly enough, but the food was dreadful, we went for a Bastille day feast, but sat on a freezing Verandah being fed some really bad food. I wasn't going to bother writing a review, but I find myself remembering this meal as being really bad and decided to share.

Dear Carla, I want to thank you very much for your review of our charming restaurant... Unfortunately for you, if you actually had bothered to do your home work before slandering our restaurant in such an uncreative way, you would have found out that we were closed for 4 weeks in July !!! And unlike most other years, we did... More

Every year when we come to Byron for a month, we make a beeline for the Petite Snail. It is a truly French experience from the décor, the miniature chair for your bag, the wait staff and the rustic French food. We dined 3 times this year. We tried the pates - yum! We had steak a couple of times... More

We had a memorable meal here - authentic French food that was carefully prepared and delicious. We began with the escargot and the pate followed by the perch and the fillet with Roquefort. All were very good. Our only regret was that we didn't have room for the creme brûlée. We will definitely be back. Pleasant and cheerful service too.

Really enjoyed a lovely meal here on a Saturday night. The French lady who greeted as we arrived was warm and friendly. I liked the way she explained and answered any questions we had about the menu. The meals we ordered were delicious. Really lovely flavours and served beautifully. I would definitely recommend for a nice meal out in Byron... More

Byron Bay! What a place....with so many great food experiences to be had. From "The Farm" to the "Republic" (both pushing the limits of modern cuisine), how could we go wrong with food being at such a good standard almost everywhere we went. STOP! The Petit Snail is easily the most expensive food we ordered and by far.....the worst! A... More

Well that is certainly a good show of taste, intelligence and courage ! First let me tell you that on the very rare occasions when a patron is not happy with his/her dining experience, and has the honesty to say so on the spot, we first attempt to find a way to resolve the ussue and, worse case scenario, he/she... Unable to get a table at the restaurant of choice we asked the waiter for a recommendation, this was his suggestion. Owned & operated by a delightful french couple the food was french wholesome. Our waitress was also French and had a great sense of humour. She was well able to understand and deal with a table of Aussie larrikins.... More

They have the pricing of an expensive French restaurant however have lower standards. If they set the correct pricing instead of $30+ for French soup I would frequent more often.

Well we are certainly more expensive that McDonald, but we serve real food. Just for the record a lobster Bisque, made with real lobsters or a Gratinée Onion Soup Lyonnaise costs $15 (not $30). More
