Fresh and inventive breakfasts and lunches featuring lots of poached eggs and kale. We came three times during our stay in Byron Bay so we could try different things. Open kitchen so you can see the chefs in action. It does get busy but there are a surprising number of seats hidden in little corners, and a communal table.

Best brekky in town, not only classic breakfast but also some less conventional things on the menu, kale and lamb salad is to die for, they usually have specials on. Friendly staff and nice outdoor seating. This place is very popular so sometimes packed with people.

Delicious Breakfast. Great food and coffee. Friendly staff. Sourdough bread and the poached eggs were perfect. Scrambled eggs were the best ever.

Visited with hubby and 3 kids 10, 6 and 5. Went at about 8am and it was already quite full with people. Hubby had pulled pork bun that he said was ok. I had sour dough with avocado and lemon which I really enjoyed. Banana bread was beautiful with the cinnamon tasting butter. 6yo had a fruit platter that he... More

We had lunch here on the advice of a local. The food was fabulous and pretty as a picture. Would definitely recommend the falafel dish and the Italian lentil crepe. Not a great deal for children, they have a children's tasting plate but it's more designed for breakfast( yogurt, banana bread and seasonal fruit) it was tasty and very pretty... More

This is a nice cafe, with a cosy and clean interior and friendly staff. The food was nicely presented and fairly priced. My dish of greens on a chickpea pancake tasted a bit too "healthy" though. Even though it contained some of my favourite greens, the dish lacked a sauce, maybe even only some lemon or a dash of balsamic,... More

We stopped here for breakfast one morning,it was very busy, but only had to wait about 10 minutes to sit down. The service was really good, and the coffee as well. The thing that was a letdown for me was my meal.I ordered the avocado on toast, and was underwhelmed. It was a massive piece of sourdough, more than a foot long, with 2 small slithers... More

We had a recommendation from one of the guys at St Elmo to come to Bay Leaf for brekkie after having a conversation of our fave dining places. Did not disappoint. Love the fact that it offers something different than the regular brekkie menu. Still can get your eggs and bacon but in a healthier option. Also before order your... More

Breakfast at Bay Leaf was delicious. Mushroom Toast is a surprise in every mouthful, mushy peas, black beans, kale and eggs plus the best chai tea I think I've ever had! The staff are friendly and the energy is buzzy and relaxed.
