New Year fish and chips

We had lunch at the Sharksfin on New Years Day. The weather was especially stormy, but we managed to walk down from where we were staying and were pleased to get a very warm welcome. Having missed out of fish and chips elsewhere the previous day, both selected this. We shared a mackerel dip to... read more

We had lunch at the Sharksfin on New Years Day. The weather was especially stormy, but we managed to walk down from where we were staying and were pleased to get a very warm welcome. Visited Mevagissey and The Sharksfin on 8th Jan 2016 with my partner and my brother, we were pleasantly surprised to find this tastefully decorated, contemporary, friendly bar/restaurant, a real refreshment in many ways. The décor is reminiscent of New England and Cape Cod (I believe one of the partners is American, and she’s done a great job), it was bright,... More

Visited here because we've enjoyed such good food here before, just last March, but was very disappointed. No need to book as it was extremely quiet being January and service was friendly enough, same beautiful location and interior but food has definitely gone down-hill. Ordered a burger for a change with pulled meat and fries, but the fries tasted over-fried... More

Took daughter, her partner and my grandaughter. Good menu. Not too big. Was able to have a starter as a main. Food was of amazing standard. The salad was outstanding and so fresh. Good choice of ales. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Surroundings are very calming and comfortable. They seem to have everything just right making for a... More

Had a vegetarian curry on wet and windy night and partner a meat dish. Friendly welcoming staff and good service although we went early so restaurant not busy. Excellent imaginative vegetarian dish although menu predominantly fish based. Not surprising as this is a fishing port! Have been in many times for coffee and snack and and consistently friendly service.

Away for a few days with friends and unable to book for NYE, we thought a NY Day meal would be nice. All dealings with staff both on the telephone and on arrival at the restaurant were excellent, friendly and efficient, sadly it went a little downhill from there on. Maybe it was because they were recovering from NYE (staffing... More

We were a large group and the restaurant was reasonably busy for a stormy night.. Service was prompt and friendly and we all enjoyed our meals which were battered cod, sea bream, chicken, burgers and pork. Chips were good and particular compliments were made about the mash and burgers. The location on the harbour front is excellent.

Had a lovely meal with great service, reasonable in price. We booked before we visited because of being New Year's Eve so didn't know what to expect but was very pleased. As it was new year had a couple of cocktails which were great. Lovely view out of the window of the harbour. Also child and teenage friendly.
