I visited the Jamaica inn for lunch after visiting Bodmin Jail, the bar staff and waitress were very friendly. The food was okay I'd compare it to a Beefeater/Harvester type restaurant. The museum was very interesting and the farm / gift shop were both nice shops. I was expecting the interior of the bar/restaurant to have more of a rustic... More

There is always an enthralling earie atmosphere at the Jamaica Inn and its legend of the 'wreckers' and smugglers. We had an enjoyable and very good meal and a drink in a warm and hospitable atmosphere. However, when we visited the next day to see Jamaica Inn in the daylight we were very disappointed with a basic and bland Cornish... More

Used to visit here many years ago, but now it is over commercialized, and has lost 'the olde Worle charm' such a shame. It is still worth a visit just for the names sake. Wish the staff had been better trained and more suitably attired, very short minis are not acceptable!!!

Not what it's hyped up to be. Touristy commercialised poor quality food. On the plus side the log fire was nice.

We were really looking forward to visiting. However very disappointed. The original bar retains its character bit the rest....particularly the restaurant is horrible. Looks like a big social club...out of character completely. The food was horrible. Tasted like microwaved frozen ready meals. In fact my cheese panini wasn't even that good...see photo. Will not be returning it seems that in... More

We drove 2 hours in rain to get there... Yes, it is a historic place and you can feel the atmosphere. However....the Sunday roast we had was below avarage level. Dirty cutlery and sticky tables were disgusting! Also, nearly all members of staff looked like being on training day (or first day at work) - tried to be helpful but... More

Used to go here over 30 years ago so it has changed, its a lot bigger but for me has lost some of its uniqueness probably to cater for the larger amount of customers. That said I really enjoyed the food I had, fish and chips and it was full value for money, the mac and cheese and ravioli although... More

We booked for Sunday lunch from our home in Surrey. We were going to Cornwall for a holiday and thought this place looked good. We had our dog with us and we were seated in the bar not the restaurant. That was ok as it was near the open fire. We had to get our food separately as we could... More

Jamaica Inn is a traditional English Inn on Bodmin Moor. It was built as a coaching inn in 1750, and had connection with smuggling tea, alcohol, salt and other goods that were taxed in England - a perfect setting for Daphne du Maurier's 1936 novel Jamaica Inn, which was made into a film by Alfred Hitchcock in 1939. The Inn... More
