The Royal Oak is a great place to enjoy real ales, quality food and Rugby. Set on the banks of the Duke of Northumberland River, less than ten minutes from Twickenham Stadium, it’s the ideal place to soak up the big game atmosphere or to enjoy dinner and drinks by the river in our lovely Cabanas or on our riverside terrace. We welcome dogs in the Bar area or on the terrace and offer the same menu throughout the pub. Our meals are cooked fresh in-house with a great selection of classic and seasonal dishes. We also offer lots of Vegetarian, Vegan, Gluten & Free dishes. On a Sunday enjoy a delicious Roast and stay on for our weekly Quiz which runs every Sunday at 8pm in the Dining room.

Went for Bank Holiday lunch and the meal overall was good. The venue is taking reasonable steps to support social distancing and COVID-19 compliance. There is a nice dining are inside, plus an outside dining area if you choose, overlooking the stream. Menu was good, and food was good in the main (lumpy gravy, though). Sadly, the service let the thing down - would have liked a second round of drinks but, with the bar closed and being ignored by the waiting staff, that was not possible. Service was also very slow, both to receive our meals and for the plates to be cleared and dessert to be offered following main course. It meant we could not stay, as we did not have another few hours to spend, so as much a loss to the venue (meant we did not spend more) as ourselves. Hopefully, the very young lad that was serving us will be back at school next week and the permanent staff will then provide a better service.

We went on the last day of the campaign and I must say it was an absolute pleasure. The restaurant was welcoming, the staff very friendly and the food was first class. We all enjoyed a variety of starters, main and desert and left thoroughly satisfied. At full price it’s certainly not expensive and offers quality dining at an affordable price. I’ll definitely visit again and look forward to it.

During these difficult times it's good to see people innovating to keep their businesses going. The Royal Oak have introduced a takeaway menu for collection from their premises. We ordered and collected Sunday lunch which was absolutely delicious and the portions very generous. Shall be repeating this experience soon!

Had Sunday lunch in here today. Found a short black hair in my dad's crackling and then found a long blonde hair in my mum's food. When telling the waitress she gave a subdued apology and that was all. The waiting staff took forever to take orders, give us the bill and we decided to order more drinks from the bar instead of wait and wait for some service. Thought we'd give this place a try but won't be returning.

This pub is not on the river it is by a man made canal feeding a sewage plant. It is not in central london but is more expensive here for a pint and if you really want to know how to mess up basic food the chef here could give you a master class. If you also want to learn how to be rude and obnoxious have a word with the team behind the bar. Beautiful experiences to be had for all.

I am very sorry you had such a poor experience with us Lailita. Unfortunately we can't help where we are situated but please note that the river runs through Mogden and is not feed by it. We can and should have offered you a better experience when you visited us and I am very sorry that your meal and the service you received was not up to our normally high standard. Unfortunately we are not able to address complaints that are directed to us on review sites rather than addressed at the time but where issues are brought to our attention we will also strive to rectify the situation. The Royal Oak is a regular haunt for my friend and I and we’re never disappointed. We especially like the small plates as we can share a range of tasty dishes. I’m especially fond of the delicious Ice cream and love to end my meal with 3 scoops! I’ve introduced lots of friends to The Royal Oak and they enjoy the food and ambience too.

Before we were even given the chance to look at the menu we were asked to put a credit card over the bar, which is really not a good idea to let your card out of your sight. When you do finally come to pay you are told you cannot have a credit card receipt which I find very unusual. The food was ok but a bit over priced for what you had.

We hold a credit card for tables as they are in the garden but if any of our customers choose not to do this they are always welcome to pay as they order. You should always be offered a receipt with card payments and I have reminded our team to do this. Unfortunately this does need to be done at the time as they can not be reprinted once the machine has been used again. Friday Lunch Treat

Some restaurants change over time, not always in a good way, but the Royal Oak is a constant we have come to rely on. This is a well-run, friendly pub restaurant that delivers high quality food and service at reasonable prices. We decided to sit in the bar area rather than the formal restaurant this time and nabbed a couple of seats by the lovely fire. We ordered our meals and drinks at the bar from the attentive and helpful bar staff and looked forward to our Friday lunch treat. Friday is always good for steak and this time was no exception. It was one of the best I have had in a good while. It was accompanied by a surprisingly good house red wine and followed by one of the best homemade apple pies ever which we shared. Well done Adrianne and your team.

Had a nice meal here with my friends, food was really nice and came quickly. However, atmosphere was ruined by a lady near the kitchen who seemed of higher management, treating waitresses with disrespect and shouting ruining the vibe. When my friend went to assist on a simple order that they seemed to have problems with, he was met with an unkind tone....Service charge was uncanny for experience of the night.

A great New Year’s Eve.

Had a fab New Year’s Eve at this very friendly pub. They had planned everything so very well so that it did not become too busy with a guy at the door. The food was brill and the staff were helpful and friendly. The owners came round to chat to the customers and the whole night was excellent value. We will definitely be returning for Sunday lunch as it’s a lovely place.

Unprofessional Landlord

Cant fault the staff or food. On a really busy evening due to the Rugby international being on, the restaurant staff managed to fit our party of 4 on a table near the restaurant bar. This wasnt a problem until the Landlord was verbally berating what I believe was either the landlady ( for her sake I hope she wasnt his wife ) or restaurant manager straight in front of us, getting right in her face on numerous occasions. This was a theme where he then seemed to have a go at just about every member of staff he could. We didn't know what his problem was but he was airing it in a totally unprofessional manner in front of us, I'd go as far as saying he was bullying all the staff, who from what we could see were all rushed off their feet. At one point he actually had a go at a customer physically directing the customer away from the restaurant bar which is for staff only. We refrained from saying anything because that would possibly only end up one way. We probably visit this pub once a year & usually stop till last orders but on this occasion decided to leave after our meal because of the Landlord, explaining to the staff why we were leaving.

An Isleworth gem...

Recently popped into The Royal Oak to watch the rugby with a friend of mine who considers himself an Isleworth local. We hadn’t pre-booked a table but chose to make a last minute visit before the Ireland vs Wales game (and then lucked out on a front row table!). I was pleasantly surprised by the good manners and knowledge of the bar staff, who actually engaged in conversation and could tell you a little bit about the menu, and the quality of the beer and food was exemplary (the Guinness was notably profound!). I would certainly recommend this pub to anyone who plans on visiting the area in future - it’s a must see!

A perfect modern local

We’ve been going The Royal Oak for a good few years now. Mostly on a Sunday night to do Sean’s quiz, but also for nights out and nice food. What do you want from a pub in 2021? Number one , are you made to feel welcome? Adrianne and Simon and until recently their lovely son Elliot are always there , always nice, always caring and always kind with lots of great work in the community especially during lockdown. Number two, is the beer any good? Fullers beer is always a treat but at The Royal Oak us beer drinkers are double lucky as not only do they serve top quality London Pride but also the superb Gale’s HSB. This is one of the best pints you will get in this part of London. Simon and Adrianne also offer a wide range of lagers and craft beers and decent wine as well. Number three. What’s the food like? Always good, always freshly cooked, always changing. No sign of Brake Brothers in this pub. I’ve just read some of the ridiculous reviews. This pub does what it says on the tin. Clean, safe, friendly , unpretentious serving decent beer , wine and food at reasonable prices. Exactly the sort of business we all need to be supporting in these difficult times.

Fabulous pretty pub I love it

It is near my house and though I am not a pub person I come to eat sometimes as well as having Xmas dinner there twice. This pub is in a lovely pretty spot. Gorgeous inside with fairy lights. Really really nice food not pretentious but one up on standard pub grub. Plus you often have deals such as kids eat free in summer. Yummy food. Their Xmas dinner is amazing. Just love it. A credit to the community

Rude waitress surcharge and wanting tips too..

Always love the food even thou menu is very limited. The staff could put there mobile phones down and concentrate on the job. We waited about 15 mins for a waitress, at the end of the meal there was a surcharge which was fine we paid it in cash and was due about 12 pounds change and the waitress was rude enough to ask if we wanted the change? 12 pounds is a lot of money.

Apologies again for the issue with the change. I am sorry you found our menu so limited as we have over 15 main meals along with specials, starters and puddings. We are often told that our menu is too large rather than too limited. I hope you will visit us again soon and perhaps try our Summer menu which will be available from April.
