Nice enough venue….. but Not without fault

Generally speaking it’s not a bad pub, and the customer service was very attentive, but it was 4pm and very few customers in. The fish fingers in a sandwich was in fact a larger piece of battered fish which was too big to stay inside the bread and far too cumbersome to eat with fingers. My wrap, the filling although nice enough, was so sloppy I feared dripping it all out. But what really annoyed me was when I was asked for my drinks order I included a glass of water. A large re usable bottle duly arrived for my partner, and I thought no more of it. It transpired that a small fancy BLUE coloured glass bottle had also been put on the table, and a charge of £4.50 added to the bill. Another reviewer has also mentioned about the extortionate price for this fancy water……be aware.

I have spoken to the team working that day, and regarding the food, were surprised to hear this as nothing was mentioned when they checked back. I had spoken with Olivia, who was your host for that afternoon and informed me that you had asked for a bottle of still water, which was then later removed from your bill. We always do our best endeavour to resolve any issues, but we were not made aware of these at the time. Been here a few times Back in March and then again yesterday . The pub has lots of outdoor seating. But, the food isn’t all that good. And portions are small compared to the price they charge . It’s quite expensive . We went in March and I ordered pie and mash dish. Sadly the pie filling was minimal and it was supposed to be chicken and ham . I expected big pieces of chicken and ham chunks , but , it was more like a mushy filling. The mash was overly microwaved it seemed. I didn’t enjoy it and was left a bit disappointed and hungry . Then yesterday we came here for lunch and I ordered a BLT lunch and drink from lunch menu £12.50. The sandwich came with a bacon slice and great big slices of beef tomatoes and soMe lettuce . And we had fish and chips £19 total bill £38.50 For the lunch. The sandwich bread was ok but i have had much better BLT elsewhere . I was a bit disappointed. I have included pictures of food . The food wasn’t the well presented either . Luckily , the fish was a decent size .

We like this pub a lot and so booked a Sunday lunch for 5 this weekend, two of the guests ordered Pork Roast specifically because it said they had crackling. It was a disappointment to find that one guest had rock hard crackling so much so that they couldn't eat it. And the other guest had rubbery crackling. The dish had not been made well. No scoring on the crackling, and clearly no attention to detail. The manager was not interested, although the waitress did apologise. Hence the lower score.

I loath giving it 1 star but the venue was nice in fairness. However, if you can make a madras bland you are in the wrong line of work. I remember a sketch in the Kumars where they went for an “ English” and ordered the blandest thing on the menu. Well this was it. Dry rice, no flavour, no gravy not even half a chicken breast worth of meat. The lamb koftas were nice although it was 1 kofta cut in half. The Korean buffalo wings were rubbish and I only ate them because the portions were so meagre that I was left starving. And typically Indian food fills you like no other. Drinks overpriced at £20 for two. Seriously dissatisfied and left feeling massively ripped off. I don’t usually give poor reviews and just put it down to experience. However, based on this evenings effort, I felt compelled to write something - abysmal.

Good location just by Osterley Park. Our walking group stopped here for lunch towards the end of our route through the park and along the Grand Union Canal. Service was prompt and efficient (helped by pre-ordering) and the food was tasty.

Service Hit and Miss as Per Previous Visit

Visited on a Saturday recently and once again was disappointed with the service levels. On our last visit, we had to take our glasses and empty plates back to the bar ourselves as no one came near the table to remove them for hours. Was quite resentful that a £15 service charge had been automatically added to our bill. This was last year some time in between lockdowns. There were enough staff around that time and it wasn't at all busy. This recent visit in June 2021, it was a rather quiet afternoon due to the poor weather. There were lots of staff standing around doing absolutely nothing, having a chat with each other. Our empty plates were left at our table for 2 hours this time, we decided we weren't going to move them ourselves. It was only when a member of staff was walking past who had just started his shift kindly took the plates away. Thankfully there was no service charge added to our bill this time or I would have actually declined it this time. The snacks we ordered included humous and bread (which didn't taste very fresh) and mixed olives. We had planned originally to have main courses but the service put us off and went caught a cab home and decided to go out to another restaurant instead. Not sure why the service is so poor, we are always extremely polite to the staff. My husband and I spent several hours there, spent over £60 on food and drinks but I don't think we'll be returning in a hurry if this is the service we can expect.

HI Ladybong_n_hubby Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. We have made a commitment to listening to our guests so we can make changes for the better and feedback in the best place to start. I appreciate your comments about service charge being added to you bill back on your first visit in 2020. I can assure you that service charge is always optional and is now only added to the bill on table of 8 or more. It will always be removed if you feel that we have not been able to give you the service you expect. I was extremely disappointed to read about your most recent experience this year in June 2021. Especially as elements of the service seemed to mirror your previous visit. Waiting for dirty plates or glasses to be removed from your table is poor service and for that i apologize. I am currently running training and retraining sessions with my team to help us pick up on these issues. My hope is that on your next visit you will see a vast improvement on this aspect of service. I have passed your comments about the food onto our chef and can assure everything is made fresh in house and we follow very strict Food Hygiene practices. We hope this is shown by our recent 5* food hygine rating. Perhaps on your next visit, when you do decide to give us another try, our service will encourage you to stay for main meals. Disappointed, as previously loved

Been before on several different days of the week over the years but never been so disappointed as on my visit on Sunday 10th. I arrived for roughly around 5.30pm and ordered a portion of wings to start, loved them, couldn't fault them and have enjoyed them in the past.... 2 roast chickens for mains absolutely repulsive potatoes tasted like they were cooked at 10am and left in the hot hold all day, zero potato left inside, chicken so dry and needed to be soaked in gravy, to be Frank overall poor, tasted as if it were microwaved. To top it off we were sat next to another table who were playing children's TV off their tablet at full volume, which I found distracting as there was no music and really killed the atmosphere for me. When you want to relax u don't want to be sat next to a table watching Mr tumbles at full volume ! And the quality of the roasts on this particular occasion just well, poor. After this I will never come back on a Sunday for food, and this is a place I regularly recommend to friends and family. Also I'm all for a casual environment at work but do not appreciate being greeted by a member of management stuffing their face with food and greeting me as a host at the same time as having a mouth full, to be served inedible food myself

I would like to firstly thank you for taking time to leave us your feedback, I'm truly sorry that this visit didn't match your previous visit's expectations. I'm extremely surprised at the poor quality of your roasts as we get many compliments on our Sunday Roasts and we pride ourselves on them, which leads to many guests coming back, especially on Sundays for them. Sometimes things do go wrong however and I can only apologise, I truly hope you are able to come back and give us another shot at changing your perception of our roasts. In terms of our music system, we actually had a recent issue which meant that we needed someone to come out and fix it, this has now been sorted and I assure you the next visit will have a lot more atmosphere in that respect. I will be passing on your comments to my staff about levels of noise from gadgets on tables as I can understand that was quite frustrating also. I will also be meeting with my management team on Monday and we will be specifically discussing the issue of eating whilst on shift, I can only apologise again for this and guarantee that you will not find this to be a recurring issue. We really would love to see you again and be given the chance to change your mind, if and when you choose to come back, please ask to see myself or another member of the management team and just bring to our attention this particular visit and we will do all we can to help you have the great experience you've come to expect from us. Girls reunion

From the very beginning of organising a reunion of friends I liaised with a great guy named Matthew he was very helpful to make sure our lunch went smoothly. The pub was fantastic very relaxed wonderful beer garden we were made to feel very welcome and the waitress very helpful and smiley. The food was excellent so all in all would recommend this pub

Lovely Sunday lunch

We visited for an anniversary lunch on a Sunday, table booked in advance as they usually book up quite quickly. I had the beef Sunday roast, other family members had the fish and chips and a veggie nut roast. All the food was delicious, served quickly and the staff on hand were very helpful and polite. Well worth a visit

Popped in after walking round the garden centre. Ordered a Cajun chicken wrap - because it didn't have onions ( or wasn't shown to have on the paper menu) Unfortunately when it arrived there they were and I sat picking the bloody things out! So annoying. I was asked if there were any allergies, there weren' t -I just don't like them so I always look when I'm ordering to be able to avoid. Online you are able to click on the info button next to the item which then tells you in detail about ingredients and potential allergens in a particular dish. Would have been lovely to have seen it on the paper edition. Other than that the place was so-so , not a place I'd rush back to .

Poor food choice and product

Pleasant surroundings so had wanted to try it for a while. First what an ordeal trying to order as I could not get the the QR code to work on my phone, back and forth to the bar, eventually had to sign up to the Fullers website to get anywhere. The menu was very disappointing really basic limited choice of bog standard pub food. Choose the fish and chips as it was Friday. Overcooked fish and chewy chips certainly not what three times cooked chips should be like. The menu refers to “our team of talented chefs”, pull the other one! Will not be going back.

HI Nigel_958 Many thanks for taking the time to give us your feedback. My sincere apologies for the disjointed service you received and the small menu we had on offer at the time. When we first launched our QR code system, Order & Pay, it was in response to the need/want people had to sit outside in our very large beer garden and be safer. This was largely driven by the restriction put in place by our government as a result of the COVID Pandemic. The system when launched, initially, was buggy but i am very happy to confirm that everything is working perfectly now and there are no further issues with the QR code. I have taken your comments on the Fish and Chips back to my HC and we are looking into why the food could have been like that. On a positive note, I am happy to confirm that we have changed our menu for Autumn and Winter and are now offering a much bigger, wider, selection of dishes. We hope to see you again soon. Absolute disappointment still shocked especially as it was there.

Jubilee Sunday, booked Sunday lunch, had very special friends @family coming. So in our mind there was only one place to book, we go there quite often. We had a phone cann advising entertainment was cancelled through no fault of there’s, not a problem for us, we had no children coming. The food Sunday roast absolutely beautiful, The service was unbelievably bad. We waited and waited fir our plates to be removed, we called out, no one came. 3 staff in a very long conversation were not even when we started calling help, no Boby noticed or heard, then the people sitting in the dining area also joined in, help . The 3 staff were standing by the entrance door still contined with there chat. No one came to see if we wanted any more drinks, no one took away any of the empty plates, empty because the food was excellent, service was not. Eventually we were asked if we wanted the sweet menu, we ordered. Waited quite a while for the bill, we’re asked if we would like to add a service charge. Our answer NO, I’ve never ever done that before. No one asked if it was okay or had there been some thing wrong. We love this place, we often eat outside, this time was inside. They were more then half empty when we were there, more then that actually, maybe people cancelled due to the entertainment being cancelled. Still find it difficult to understand how this went so wrong on a day we chose to take these people after telling them about if for some years.

Fab lunch spot for parents wanting a peaceful dining experience!

Having gone a little downhill in the past, it’s picked itself up massively. Helpful, friendly, efficient staff, nice food menu, quick service and to top it all as a parent of 2 lively boys, a fantastic play area for the kids. With most pubs around the area of west london having removed their play areas during covid, this is a god send for a peaceful and enjoyable lunch. The buffalo wings are banging, the roasts are yummy and the kids menus offers lots of choice.

Big pub but tables close together. Very pleasant staff, food a disappointment. Menu was very limited. We had the crispy squid to start with but it wasn’t cooked well enough so had to leave it. The beef was average and the burger was fine. The roast pork was a huge chunk of very dry meat. Didn’t seem like a loin had been roasted. Roast lunches should be slices of meat cut off a joint. Wine list was poor, the first we chose they did not have and there was only one Spanish wine (so no choice unless you wanted French). Perhaps stick to burger or fish and chips at this pub.

Nothing vegetarian!! (If you can’t eat nuts) 😱

It was like being back in the late 70s!! Nut roast was the only vegetarian option!! Terrible. We asked the chef if he could make anything veggie without nuts, but ‘no’ was the answer. Lovely outdoor space though.
