I have used Ashton's fish and chip shop for many years and have never needed to complain as the food and service has always been excellent, however I do feel that the review from Frise29 ref re-opening times is unfair as Ashton's have endured many break in and by advertising that they are on holiday will only make this worse.... Researched best chippy in Stockport on the internet. The fish and chips were indeed lovely, however we have returned twice to find a "gone fishing" sign in the window when they were supposed to be open. Please give a better explanation of your closure with an expected re-opening date as we cannot keep guessing when you will be open!!

Best fish and chips in town and ive tried a lot. The queue is always out of the door which shows how popular it is but be prepared to wait!

Very lucky to have this as our local chippy. Limited opening hours and great quality food usually means there's a queue. However, it's always worth the wait and we're disappointed when it's closed and we have to head elsewhere.

Fresh fish from a traditional English chippy, always good. Dave is to fish and chips what Michael Angelo is to marble.

Traditional fish and chips the way they should be and really nice curry would recommend to anyone. Only downside is the opening times but not opening all day and night means they're always good.

I took my mother who loves fish and chips. The portion sizes were large and it was all cooked to perfection. A real traditional style fish and chip shop and restaurant of the type that are so sadly disappearing. The food was cooked to perfection and the staff were welcoming and friendly. Can't wait to go again

We go here fairly frequently, and the quality is always excellent. The owner knows about the fishing areas and buys the fish from the proper sources.
