Very busy real ale pub, staff are always friendly and never have to wait long to be served even when it is busy which it usually is.The range of beers is very good and the atmosphere is fantastic.A must visit if in the area.

We used to visit this pub regularly, but on our last three visits we have always been very disappointed. On each of these three recent visits, no food has been available for a variety of reasons. Also, today we were served by a most unfriendly & sullen barmaid - not what you want when out to have a nice day!... More

A traditional pub serving great beer in excellent surroundings. If it was not I would not have been a regular visitor since the refurb a number if years ago.

Lovely place to have lunch, not a massive menu but good choice. Traditional cider on draught and plenty of traditional beers spoilt for choice.

I'm not a fan of real ale but my friends love it. It's what a pub should be, traditional, log fires, quiet music, decent beer, busy.

Nice friendly feeling pub, with a nice selection of real ales, on a negative point, strange that they only serve food 12-4 Mon to Sat, bar staff need to remember they are being paid to srve not socialise with each other.

Don't listen to negative reviews remarking about rude staff. I have been here regular since the pub changed hands and took the laser brewery label. The staff are always friendly and pleasant, always in the mood for a good bit of banter and helpful (including the landlord). Great ale and great food on a lunchtime. Highly recommended.
