We regularly eat here as the home cooked food is delicious. Good choice of menu, staff very attentive and friendly, nothing is too much trouble! Occasionally have to wait if it's busy, but as its all freshly cooked it's worth the wait! Would definitely recommend a visit. Don't be put off by negative reviews.

Thank you for your review. Unfortunately I was away on holiday when you visited and therefore not on the premises. I can assure you I have spoken to the staff involved and made them aware of your comments. There is no excuse for our standards to drop just because I am not here and apologise for this. I hope you... More

Just wanted a quick tea so went here at 5-05pm got 2 pints of lager ( probably the dearest in Yorkshire) and a menu , placed our order for a sandwich with chips and a burger. Bearing in mind we were the only people eating there it took nearly an hour for our food to arrive WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT hot... More

We go for the Sunday Carvery which is fine - evening meals on weekdays are also good - freshly cooked and served piping hot. Puds are usually really good. They also do Tapas which is worth a try. The Star deserves to be better known and patronised than it is, always a pleasant atmosphere and good service . They are doing... More

Have eaten here numerous times. The food is delicious and portions are generous with the bonus of being served with a smile

The Sunday carvery dinner is a little know gem. It beats any of the chain pubs hands down, it's probably better value when it comes to price as well. If you don't fancy this there is a set menu as well. They have 2 real ales, draft cider as well as Moretti lager. Don't forget to book though, they don't... More

Today (2nd Jan) we did the Luddite trail part 1 walk starting at the star inn robertown. Our group was 50 strong and the star inn was so accommodating to us. A big thank you to the staff. They even opened up early so we could use the toilets. A nice muddy 6 mile walk finished with a nice drink... More

My husband and I have taken our two young children here to eat several times and have started introducing family and friends too! Fabulous home cooked food at reasonable prices. I don't understand why it's not constantly packed out!

The Star Inn was warm and welcoming. The staff were very friendly and showed us to our table with no waiting. Drinks were brought almost straight away. The meals were delicious, hot and very well presented. Would definitely dine there again if in the area.
