I still like this pub, mainly for it's canal side location and friendly staff and not bad ales. Since the floods though the refurb means a lot of character and cosiness has been lost. Adding a 'feature wall' and high stool/chairs adds to the lack of authenticity - common to a lot of pubs now, trying to be 'natty'. They... More

Very disappointed in our meal tonight. My husbands steak was ok but mine was distinctly 'cheesy'. I did complain about it as I couldn't eat it, but was told that it was quite normal for 28 day matured steak to smell and taste like that. Paid for the meal but we will never go back. It was AWFUL.

So pleased the Stubbing has reopened following a complete refurbishment due to the Boxing Day floods. Lovely atmosphere, wood fire, good beer and great food. We had the £12 2 course early bird which has lots of choice and the portions are no smaller than the normal menu. Lovely staff as well, very smiley and helpful. We will be back!

We booked Sunday lunch , we were seated upstairs a little cramped, we were told we would have to go to the bar to order, quite a lot to remember for 5 people so the young lady said she would take our order I think it should be regular practice. Our starters were good, quite a wait for mains but... More

Realy enjoyed our 1st visit after the flood repairs to the pub. The food was exellent, the changes to the pub are good. This is all a welcom change and needed to happen as the place had gone quite poor.

Famously good pub and bravely reopened after last year's floods. Great staff, lovely food and plenty to choose from. Good variety for vegetarians too. Be a good idea to book if you go at busy times, we were lucky to get a table. Am sure they'll fix the door swinger so that it's a bit quieter! Didn't bother us but... More

Very good, lots of veggie choice. Took a little while for food to arrive, but it was very busy. May be book next time. Very helpful staff, they even did us a mini main as a starter. Jx

First visit for almost fifty years! Great food, friendly staff, sat by fire - so - nice and warm, lovely atmosphere - but beware - starters are so big that they don't leave much room for main course. Real ale also welcome - although not allowed much by my 'minder'! Also - toilets don't deter a further visit - passed... More
