We can always count on this restaurant to serve classic, super thin Tuscan style pizza. Many locals order one pizza per person because they are thin and light. We have also enjoyed the sliced beef over rocket salad. House wine is light, delicious and very inexpensive.

This is really a lovely place, they have a beautiful terrace and very nice staff. The food is very good and inexpensive. My partner and I both had pizza and dessert, I had a few additional wishes for my pizza (to replace certain ingredients with others) and it was absolutely no problem and worked out just fine. After your visit it's worth taking a walk through the historic city, as there are art installations all around.

In the splendid setting of the medieval village of Certaldo, for our lunch break we stopped at Messer Boccaccio, a restaurant with pizzeria located in a 1300s cellar and equipped with a beautiful outdoor garden in which we enjoyed two excellent pizzas, thin and rich in ingredients, two good desserts and two coffees with excellent value for money. We recommend, in good weather, having lunch in the welcoming garden. Welcoming and polite staff.

My wife and I went to this restaurant in August 2023, driven by the photos of beautiful and inviting typical Tuscan dishes, ignoring the recent negative reviews that denigrated the proposed menu.
Usually we look at the negative reviews first and then the excellent ones to have a clearer measurement and we do not consider those that are not in the slightest constructive.
However, I have to agree with those who criticized the offer (which unfortunately cannot be found either here or on the site, otherwise we wouldn't have come) and the lack of some dishes on the already limited menu.
We order the only Tuscan dishes available: mixed starter, panzanella, sliced meat and potatoes
oven; neither panzanella nor potatoes are available. So my wife opts for the courgette carpaccio and I give up the potatoes. We also took half of the house red, the price of which, if memory serves me correctly, was nowhere to be found on the menu.
Trying to be objective I can't say that the food wasn't good, there is certainly better both in terms of offer and quality but the problem is another: we didn't explain the discrepancy between the
images and positive reviews (the latest from May 2023) and the reality of the facts, hypothesizing a recent change of management or a change to the menu in the summer period which could also happen, as long as it can be known without having to find out on site. And we would certainly have gotten up to go elsewhere, had it not been for the late hour and the risk of going to bed without food.
The waitresses, very kind, did their utmost to try to satisfy our requests as far as possible, however as per our habit they were always calm and kind.
The location is really beautiful and it was still pleasant to have dinner under the centuries-old holm oak in the external courtyard.
Last negative note, or at least suspicious: my wife tries to pay with the debit card and the transaction is rejected by both POS. This is not the case with my card, which works immediately and the cardholder, perhaps a little too diligently, immediately took the opportunity to decline his responsibility for the previous failure to work. It must be said that the non-payment receipts were regularly issued.
The bill itself can also be considered acceptable, although for that price you can find something else of better quality.

During our visit to the city of Boccaccio, we stopped for lunch in this place, in the outdoor area, right under what appears to be a centuries-old tree. Spartan furnishings, very small menu with 4-5 choices for each category. We ordered a Tuscan appetizer for 2 people which included a bruschetta with livers, one with onions (very good), some cold cuts and a few slices of cheese. Since there was nothing among the first courses that satisfied us, we moved directly to the second courses by ordering two cuts, one with lard and rosemary and a normal one, accompanied by baked potatoes. The meat was excellent, as was the lard which melted in your mouth. The gentleman who showed us the cut of meat for the Fiorentina ordered by our friends made an excellent impression on us. Very slow service, we had to call the waiters several times to bring us what was missing. Still a good experience.

Short stay in Certaldo, for dinner we take the funicular and climb to the upper city to try this restaurant pizzeria that we had already seen in the morning. We sit in the beautiful outdoor terrace with a breathtaking view of the valley, surrounded by the centuries-old city walls. We order pizza from a remarkable offer to which a few Tuscan dishes are added. The two pizzas are really good, thin and crisp but at the same time seasoned to perfection and this helps to make them even more pleasant. Didolce we go of cantucci with vin santo, small but very crumbly cantucci and with a fortified wine and tending to a pleasant dessert. Excellent thin Tuscan pizza at a very reasonable price. The pizza was so good we visited twice during our short stay in Certaldo. The staff were also very friendly and the wine reasonably priced too. If you’re visiting Tuscany on a budget but still want quality food, Da Messer Boccaccio is a must!

We had lunch here as a couple on Saturday 14/12 with onion gnocchi and pappardelle with wild boar, after an appetizer of local cheeses. All great, even the bread at the table was delicious. Proper bill. Fast, kind and never intrusive service. Definitely going back.

Located in the historic parts of the town, with a nice terrace to sit outside. Antipasto della casa and vino were really good and reasonably priced. Pizza was thin and tasty. € would be the better price range. absolute recommendation.

I came here a good few years ago and was blown away by the pizza.
Well, second time around didn’t disappoint either! Amazing! We arrived just as they were closing the restaurant, however we could be served on the terrace. Perfect. We had a pizza and a beer. Who would want for more??? It really is amazing value for money, very tasty and a truly wonderful find.
You’d be silly if you didn’t go if you’re in the area. We were in SAN Gimignano in the morning and here for lunch in the afternoon- great day!
