If you were a kid, knowing no better, and went there for lunch daily, I suppose your nostalgia would make it out to be a marvelous place with awesome fare. In truth, it's a clean, dated diner, The "famous" hoagie is baloney and cheese on a hot dog bun. On a scale of one to ten, it's a one. Incredibly... More

The 3rd Base's signature menu item is it's cold cut hoagie. There's not a lot of meat in it but it has a good flavor. I suspect it's the hoagie spread that gives it it's flavor. I prefer the cheese steak hoagie, again not a lot of meat unless you get double meat. I usually get the onions & peppers... More

Best cold cut hoagies in the world. They have not changed one bit since I was a kid, and thankfully neither has Third Base. It will forever be a favorite of mine.

Tasty, quick always fresh friendly service easy access good prices what more could anyone ask for? The Third Base is a Hazleton tradition and it's reputation is well deserved as one of the Landmark restaurants in town.

Anytime I travel north on I-81 I have to stop in Hazleton to visit places I frequented when I was growing up there over 50 years ago. I looked up and saw that the Third Base was still open. I stopped by and bought their cold cut hoagies which I bought 50 years ago. I was so happy - they... More

On a whim, my wife and I stopped in for a sandwich so she could experience some nostalgia from my high school days--we live in the Baltimore area since 1988. Dave treated us as we were old friends and the sandwiches exceeded our expectations. No flamboyance here, just good food and great service. We both had a sandwich, she had... More

I've tried cold cut hoagies from several places in Hazleton PA. I've come to the conclusion that there's no better regular cold cut hoagie than a Third Base hoagie. The price is right, the bun is delicious and fillings are perfect! We love them. I always order them for take-out. Dave, the guy who owns the place, is delightful and... More

Hogies are OK very little meat a small bun not much else is exciting about this place service is good brings back the nostalgic feeling of going to high school at HHS.I think prices are a bit high for a few pieces of salami and ham and one slice of cheese. Boring much better choices in area for a cold... More

Visiting the area from New Jersey and because of tripadvisor reviews, we sought out this luncheonette. AWESOME! You may never experience something like this ever again -- so go there! We had Italian subs, and they were great; however it's the atmosphere that really is cool. I felt like I stepped back in time to a mom and pop sub... More
