This was our first time visiting the steakhouse and definitely will not be our last. Everything was perfect starting with the valet parking, which the steakhouse validated the pass and summoned the valet to bring our car to us when we were finished with our dinner, to the fantastic atmosphere and perfectly cooked food. Our waiter, Joseph, was just absolutely wonderful! He was able to recommend a variety of food choices along with drink choices as well. Our steaks were cooked perfectly (we were also given a selection of various steak knives to use) and we were even surprised with a chocolate covered strawberry platter with a candle in it to celebrate her 36th wedding anniversary. So, I asked my husband, "Why did it take us 36 years to dine here!?"

Our dining experience was by far one of the best I've ever had. The service was excellent, the seafood was fresh and the steak was perfectly seasoned, melt in your mouth good. I highly recommend 1700 Degrees for a special night out, or if you are traveling (like us) and looking for some really good food BUT be prepared for the bill! Worth every dollar!

1700 Degrees made our Anniversary memorable in the best possible way. The restaurant is located in the Harrisburg Hilton so very convenient to avoid any issues of drinking and driving. Everything from the service to the food was perfect. I had indicated on the reservation that this was our Anniversary and was impressed that the hostess remarked about it when we arrived. Joesph, our waiter was amazing in that he flawlessly combined an engaging personality with keeping the meal moving throughout the evening without rushing us. While 1700 Degrees is billed as a steakhouse my wife and I had seafood that was done to perfection. The presentation was so good I snapped a picture...something I don't normally do. The wine list is truly amazing and while we were tempted, we settled for a moderately priced bottle (and ended having a second it was so good). 1700 isn't cheap, but it's a good value considering the service, food, and wine. We now have that special restaurant for those special occasions.

Well let’s start with the table we reserved wasn’t available so we were offered a wait or a dining room that was empty except for 1 table for half our meal. Tyler introduced himself and he’s was great but told us he wasn’t staying Mike was going to serve us. Ordered our mains was told it’s a new menu and my choice of one of only 2 8oz options wasn’t available as it was a ribeye I asked if the New York strip had fat even though I Gad to order 14oz Mike said yes! Mmm not true! The wine on the menu 2019 delivered 2020, with the excuse a 3rd party operates the wine list. Mmmm….my steak had no fat at all, I asked for English mustard and got french grain mustard! Finally ordered dessert hubby asked for cheesecake and got served macarons….mmm. This restaurant claims to be fine dining they have a lot to polish up on …… not great really. The wine was good and my dessert was fab

The service was not great. The waiter seemed disinterested and literally walked away mid-sentence while explaining the menu options. I ordered the porterhouse, medium rare, and was given a ribeye that was 2/3 gristle and was cooked medium.

I've read one way to judge a steak house is by the sharpness of their knives. But how does one know how sharp the knives are until you put them to use. Well, I had to ask for another knife. Another way? Are the cocktails good? My Martini was dry enough, but not the gin I ordered. One would think they didn't think I'd noticed that they served me and charged me for the most expensive gin, not the one I ordered. Ever had a Caesar salad with tomatoes? I hadn't until this experience. Atmosphere was as expected and the service was professional. Ciao

I will begin by saying that I am only giving a 1 star review because you are unable to rate this establishment any less. My husband and I are frequently in Harrisburg for business and always stay at the Hilton. We are long time Hilton Honors Members as well as Hill Society members. It saddens me to write this negative review because in all of my years of dining out I have never encountered the rudeness and completely inappropriate behavior that our waiter demonstrated while we dined and entertained our guests. One of our guests at the table was celebrating a birthday the following day. I excused myself from the table when we finished dinner and went up to our waiter and respectfully and politely informed him of this. I asked him to bring some sort of a dessert with candle on it to the table when the rest of our guests ordered dessert and coffee. It was in that very moment that he took it upon himself to scold me and reprimand me in front of other patrons in a manner that he felt was acceptable as if I were a petulant child. We had finished our dinner with our guests and this incident left me sick to my stomach. Up until this point the service was mediocre at best. I did not engage with the waiter any further I addressed the issue with the manager when we were leaving. I recognize during these challenging times of the pandemic that the service industry including restaurants have had their myriad of problems. I will highlight that after this incident occurred I can only hope that the management will recognize that hiring and training skilled staff matters now more than ever before. The rising costs of goods and services must be met with the mindset that while you have patrons who continue to support these businesses the level of service that these businesses deliver should not fall short with the overall quality of service that is being delivered. Rising costs should not somehow be met with an attitude and mindset that any old quality of service will be or should be-tolerated and if issues such as this arise they must be addressed accordingly. It’s also important to emphasize that by addressing these incidents properly management could be avoiding a potentially far worse incident in the future. Checking in and checking up with staff shows that you are going above and beyond to insure that everyone including your patrons will have an overall positive and enjoyable experience. Mental health is an area that has gone unaddressed or improperly approached for far too long. Unequivocally employers have a responsibility and must play an active role moving forward insuring the overall well being of their staff members. This waiters poor and questionable behavior was so inappropriate on a multitude of levels. Truly hoping that the management understands the severity of this incident and handles the situation properly.

I would recommend NOT wasting your money on this very expensive restaurant. Service was VERY slow, and food was nothing to brag about. Steaks were not prepared as requested. Caesar Salad had a funky taste, and the iron skillet brownie also had a funky taste. For the price you pay I expect so much more as far as flavor and quality. Portions were good.

Hopefully last night's dinner was a hick-up. Began well with delicious salads and drinks, but problems arose when they brought the steaks. Mine was a paper-thin ribeye (Outback variety) which couldn't have been 16 ounces. It also tasted mealy like it was taken out of the freezer. My wife's bone-in filet was significantly over cooked. My son's filet was also overcooked to the point that he had to send it back. They willingly agreed to cook another one, but when they delivered that one it was a New York strip, not a filet. They did give us a free drink and removed the sides from the bill. The dining room is beautiful, and the service was good, so the evening wasn't a total disaster.

1700 is a white linen tablecloth, fine dining steakhouse located in the Hilton hotel, downtown Harrisburg. The food is exceptional, hot plates, & seared steaks at 1700° hence the name... The service is impeccable. Amanda always has a smile on her face, immense knowledge of the menu and wine. She really goes above and beyond for her guests. We care for a 101-year-old world war II veteran and she certainly made every visit so special. We also had the pleasure of dining with Carrie and Mark, each one leaving a wonderful impression on us. What an incredible team led by incredible management. They feature a fantastic wine list, a variety of menu options. Try the oysters on the half shell :). We happen to be staying at the Hilton (also highly recommended) so we have had the opportunity to dine here several times. Consistency, exceptional flavor, service and atmosphere was always paramount to the entire team. Dave and Mitchell are amazing bartender's (try a nice martini) If you're visiting the city make sure not to miss it. If you're a local and want to try something new make sure you check out 1700°- it's definitely not a typical hotel restaurant, it is definitely a destination restaurant.

While vacationing at nearby Hershey Park, we went out for a nice dinner, and were able to reserve a table here with not much notice. They were OK with our vacation attire (we hadn’t planned on going to a fancy restaurant when we packed) and the employees were nothing but gracious. Our waitress was especially wonderful to our 10 year-old daughter and made her feel like a very special guest. We had two ribeye steaks and the monkfish. All were cooked perfectly. The mushroom and speck cream preparation for the steaks was out of this world, but if you don’t like mushrooms the 1700 preparation is very good as well. The sides were great; even my daughter liked the brussel sprouts, which made me wonder if we had slipped into an alternate reality. Dessert was wonderful, of course, though the kids should stick to the brownie or cheesecake. The tarte is more of an adult style dessert, with the mousse it is topped with tasting like it has some alcohol or maybe a cognac extract in it. Very good, but probably not for many kids. It’s really more of an adult restaurant, however, so that is not a knock on the desserts, just a warning if you’re taking your children. We have decided that any time we go back to Hershey, it will include a dinner at the 1700 Steakhouse.

I just cannot figure out why this steak house is rated so highly. Yes, the waitress was very friendly (she had 13 of us to serve all by herself), and the ambiance was nice, but the food was NOT steakhouse quality. I’m from Pittsburgh and have been to 2 amazing steak houses there - after reading 1700’s reviews, I expected this meal to at least be on par. It wasn’t even close. The steak came out overcooked, had little flavor, and the char was poor. It came just on a plate - no nothing. Sure, I understand the sides are served separately, family style, but I get a big plate with an overcooked steak. The filet was eh, the potatoes (whipped) were eh. I will say the creamed spinach was good, and someone had lobster Mac and cheese which they enjoyed. I spent $180 for 2 people for sub-par, mediocre food at best. Next time I’m in Harrisburg, this ones gets scratched off my list.

Tale of two experiences. I went two nights in a row. First night I ordered the ribeye. It was cooked perfectly. One of the best steaks I have ordered in a restaurant... and I have ordered MANY. Tonight I returned and ordered the 14 oz boneless strip steak. It couldn't have been more disappointing. It was chewy. I had to spit much of it onto my plate. The sauce I ordered with it was wonderful, as was the service, but please do not order the strip steak. I could post pictures but I don't want to gross anybody out.

My wife and I celebrated Valentine's Day there last night. Service was good, food was excellent and the surroundings were delightful. We were expecting something special for that occasion but nothing other than a couple chocolate covered strawberries. Also, they use way too much salt in their cooking and the restaurant was a little chilly. Probably would still go back.

Be sure to eat before you come here! The portions are laughable. Service is fantastic, so it's not the servers fault. Thankfully we were not starving. The wine prices are also laughable. Kendall Jackson, $40 when it's $9.99 sometimes on sale. The food was good, very tasty but after three bites you are done. I do not recommend.
