Dining anywhere during Covid-19 can certainly be challenging. However, if you are looking for an elegant dinner in a superb atmosphere with great service, I highly recommend the William Penn Inn. Reservations are required and you are seated promptly upon arrival in a spacious dining...room. There is also a bar area that offers a more intimate setting. Distance seating is applied. Our dinner from start to finish was absolutely delicious. Bar service was excellent. Dress code is business casual. Great place for a special occasion as well.More

My wife and I enjoyed our experience at William Penn Inn. They are appropriately cautious with COVID-19, limiting the number of diners, spreading them out, and making sure that masks are worn when diners are moving about in the restaurant. We enjoyed the Lobster Tails...and Prime Rib, along with multiple appetizers and dessert. Additionally, although the price was on the high side as we expected for this area, the quality and quantity of food didn't disappoint. The ambiance was nice for a quiet, non-rushed, dinner without the kids. Service was very good, with an attentive and pleasant server.More

Very pleased with attentiveness and helpfulness of staff. (Thank you, Robyn.) And table placement, masks, etc. made us comfortable eating inside in lovely dining room. Snapper soup was excellent. Portions were generous for "surf and turf" main course, but none of it rose above the...ordinary -- and steak was overcooked.More

The William Penn Inn finally reopens for indoor dining. Since it's been in operation 300+ years, this isn't their first pandemic. They reduced seating capacity in the Monet room, the major dining room. I think only two of their four dining rooms are available. Basically...every other table is in use. Plenty of spacing. Staff wearing masks. We felt fine. One of their great deals is the three course menu. About two dozen entrees plus starter and dessert. It used to be a set price with up charges here and there. Now, the price is tied to the entree you choose. Lobster bisque under the starters might be the only upcharge left. I ordered off the regular menu, which includes soup or salad. They have a good Caesar. I had that. I followed with the crab cake entree. I was pleased. It was one of the better crab cakes I've had. My wife went for two appetizers. The calamari was one. She was happy. We were with another couple. One had salmon. Forgot the other dish. They were happy. The William Penn Inn makes it's own sorbet. The portions are big and it's quite rich. Minor changes are obvious during the pandemic. No seating at the bar. No harpist. No little dish of vegetables with your cocktails. These are minor issues. We keep coming back because we like gracious dining where the staff is very efficient.More

Prices are outrageous and not worth the money. Portion sizes, service and atmosphere are average. Not even a scenic view. You are paying for the name but not at all worth it. Disappointing.

You still have a friend in Pennsylvania, particularly at the William Penn Inn! The Inn reopened for inside dining on Tuesday June 30th and it was worth the wait. To be able to once again experience one of Chef Bell's specials in house, with the...Inn's very attentive, frienly staff was reaffirming. If we all just practice social distancing and responsibility, we will get through this pandemic and social distress. With over 300 years of doing business, the Inn knows how to adhere to standards it has set by setting a warm hospitable environment that is customer centered and truly values all who enter. The gracious welcome and concern is free...but the cost associated with the gourmet style meals is more than fair. Clearly...this place has class. When it is safe for you to get away from home, a comfortable place to start is the William Penn Inn, as all precautions are taken to provide safe, peaceful dining experience. Remember what good is...it is in community and loving our fellow (hu)man.More

Never would have thought of the William Penn as a take out place but due to the Covid 19 quarantine there was no other option. Just like everything else about the William Penn, their take out process was easy and efficient. They were very willing...to make a change in the accompanying vegetables, and everything was ready right on time. The order was done correctly and the food was perfect (we didn't order the lobster tail because we assumed that would probably be cold by the time we got it home.More

We we’re planning to visit the Inn for our anniversary, but the Covid-19 thing put a damper on that. I heard they were doing takeout, so I called and placed an order. My wife got the filet and I got the seafood papperdelle. Both were...delicious and reasonably priced. We also got dessert. Thanks for a great meal. We wish it was under different circumstances!! 🙃More

The William Penn Inn is a white tablecloth, fine dining and upscale restaurant experience. I do not know of any restaurant rules in place, but most visitors do not wear jeans.
