really good specialty pizza, I think the thin crust is better than the thick crust. Our server was very busy, and due to a medical emergency (at the restaurant) one server needed EMT attention, leaving only one server, and the place was busy, but she...handled the challenge very well. This place has been open for many many years, remains greatMore
I love a fantastic sauce. Any one can make a cheese pie, but the sauce is the most important thing. We had slices that were so good we had to return later in the day to order a fresh pie.
It was made to order....Totally worth the 20 minute wait. Our waitress was so friendly. We gawked at all the other options. There were so many families dining there on a Saturday afternoon.
It was a think crust, perfectly crispy on the bottom.
Again, I must say the tomato sauce had a wonderfully oregano flavor.
The cheese stretch perfectly with every bite. Watch the oil/grease that drips from each slice... this is two-napkin worthy. Oh, it was sooooo good.
New Yorkers would like this slice.More
There is an old saying about truckers and food. Wherever you see their rigs congregated outside a restaurant, you know that the food is good there. Well, there should be another saying for downtown folks. If there's a line at a restaurant, you know it...has good food, too.
Leonardo' is always busy. We usually go there on Friday and Saturday nights, and there is a line. Thankfully, the waitresses and kitchen staff work like a finely tuned machine. The wait isn't long to be seated, and the food comes in a reasonable amount of time. The waitresses hustle like no place I've ever seen. The waitresses must be satisfied, because the same, kind ladies have been here for years.
As for the food, in hundreds of visits here, we have NEVER had a bad meal. The Italian offerings of spaghetti, lasagna, subs, eggplant, etc. are great. There are homemade soups, good desserts, fresh baked bread that comes with the meal, and also traditional fare such a burgers and fries, chicken, etc. The menu is large and has something to please everyone. They also serve beer and wine, and have takeout bottles and six packs.
Leonardo's offers eat in and takeout. It's a great place for kids, because they can make noise and not disturb anyone. There are booths along the sides, and then tables in the center. There are no sound "barriers"/dividers, so it's pretty much of an open bullpen. If you are looking for a quiet, romantic meal out with your significant other, this isn't the place to go. If you want great food, a laidback, friendly environment, with fast service and reasonable prices (especially with the large portions... that you end up taking home as leftovers for another full meal), Leonardo's is the place to go.
If you still aren't convinced, just stand out front of the restaurant and take in the wonderful smells coming out of the exhaust fan. You will be hooked.More
I like the Grilled Chicken Salad with its mountain of shredded cheese. I usually ask for it without the fries, but they do add something to it. The chicken is marinated somehow that is very good. I also recommend the Pizza Steak Sub and the...Steak Wedgie. You can't go wrong with Leo's!More
I stopped in here with a friend, her husband, and her son for an early dinner. The menu was extensive and we wanted to try several things. The waitress was very friendly, but my friend's son is in 8th grade and asked my friends (instead...of talking to him) if he wanted crayons and a kid's menu (he wasn't happy haha). The local wine from across the street was only offered in bottles which was a bit disappointing (we'd just come from buying bottles directly at the winery, so it didn't make sense to buy another bottle when just two of us planned to have one glass with our meal). All of the food was pretty good, none of us would be opposed to going back, but I wouldn't say I'd travel just to get here.More
No trip to Franklin is complete without a visit to this local eatery. Their pizza is great, their menu is vast but the real standout are their subs. This is probably the one of the best value/quality ratio restaurants that you will find anywhere.
