When you walk by, the odor of old, overused cooking oil permeates the air. We decided to give it a try when the nearby restaurant we normally go to was closed. The fish was overcooked and dry, it had a hard crust. We left without...finishing our meal - it went in the trash on the way out the door. You're better off with a McDonalds fish fillet.More

We stopped here for lunch after a recommendation from a friend. Very small, one man operation, 4 two person tables and one 4 person table. All offerings are deep fried, the catfish is done right - in a crunchy cornmeal coating, fried to perfection, moist...and tender. All served in Styrofoam clamshells, meals come with fries and sliced bread. Sides are generous and inexpensive. The fried okra is absolutely delicious! Hush puppies are 25 cents each and are flavorful.More

Though this small restaurant advertises as a take-out spot, there are 4 small tables that allow you to eat in. This is helpful if you're from out of town. During the summer, take it across the street to the park or drive down to the...Erie waterfront. This place could easily make it anywhere on the southeast coast of the USA and it's a great local asset to find it here. If you enjoy cornmeal battered fish, this is the place - whiting, perch, tilapia, shrimp and, naturally, catfish. Don't let the smallness of the place put you off. While many of the restaurants on this block (there are 5) have turned over, this is one of the ones that keeps going. Easy parking around the park. One of the few issues I have with it is that they don't offer collards. Enjoy the fish, the plentiful french fries, and the constant chatter of your one-man operation.More

I went to dinner here after reading the reviews and had a good meal. He really knows how to fry things! But the only drinks are sodas in cans and the food is served on Styrofoam clamshells with a plastic fork. Excellent fried food, but...little ambiance.More

We wanted good seafood, and we found it at Hooks Catfish Kitchen. Our family had catfish, perch and shrimp and all of it was very good, seasoned well and fried to perfection. We will definitely visit again when we're in the area.

Excellent fried catfish. Nice flavors and all at a good price. They also serve perch, shrimp, and some sides like clam strips. Service was fast and friendly. If I'm ever back in Erie I will for sure stop in again.

The food here was amazing. Freshly fried fish, well prepared and very flavorful. Wonderful, although basic fried sides. The best seafood in Erie at about 1/2 the price. I strongly reccomend this place if you like good seafood on a budget.

As a boy raised in the south, I appreciate good fried fish. Especially when its not greasy and batter fried. WOW was this a shock! Authentic fried fish in the north!!! With all the fixins including okra, corn nuggets and hush puppies (omg, the hush...puppies). Do not overlook this joint, it should be #1 in Erie.More

Stumbled into this place one afternoon and was very happy with the food. Had the perch, which was served with bread and fries. Ordered the hush puppies which were great. Everything was cheap and quick. Check this place out.

I can't find a menu either, but here goes from my memory... I know they have perch (3 smaller sized fish equaling the large catfish option), because I had that. They also have tilapia, popcorn shrimp and chicken tenders... More
