Snuggled in a residential area of Erie, this restaurant has wonderfully made Italian dishes. Oh they have other standard cuisine as well, but if you love Italian, they'll make you a dinner you can't refuse. Our waiter Jim was a hoot and we're not quite...sure you can believe everything he tells you, but we didn't care, he entertained us as well as served us with special care. The amount of food is huge, so perhaps you should consider this an eat now and take home the rest for another meal. All you need to know is everything was delizioso!!!1More

Our daughter found this place on the internet while we were in Erie for the weekend. Knew nothing about it going in, but what a great treat. The service was outstanding. The drink menu was very interesting and the menu itself made it hard to...choose just one item. Their marinara was amazing, perhaps the best I have ever tasted. Overall, the meal was great and I would highly recommend any time your in the Erie area.More

This is the best family owned restaurant in Erie. I no longer live in Erie but my family does and we love coming here. Fantastic family, ambiance and cuisine. I LOVE sitting by the windows in the front so if you want a really cozy...experience call, reserve and request one of those tables. Enjoy! It's a special place.More

I really wanted to like this place and was excited to try it. Sadly I was disappointed. When we walked in I liked how charming the placed looked and the service was very friendly. Unfortunately each course of food was more disappointing than the next....The dipping oil had no seasoning. The house salad was iceberg lettuce with bottled dressing. The fish had soggy skin and was served with bland, undercooked brussel sprouts. And my mushroom ravioli was just awful- it was in a SWEET cream sauce with chewy bits of pancetta... The canolis were good, but I can get better ones for less at Romolos or Wegmans. Ridiculously overpriced for the quality.More

This past Wednesday, my husband, daughter and I had the pleasure of going to Colao’s restaurant in Erie, PA. We had reservations at 7:30 and were promptly seated when we arrived. Luisa, our waitress, (and our daughter) waited on us immediately. We ordered our drinks...and appetizers. As appetizers, we had the Arancini Di Rosa and calamari Marinara. (All pasta is homemade.) We each ordered a salad. The garden salad, caprese salad and caeser salad. For dinner, my husband ordered the chicken Marsala with homemade pasta with aioli on the side. My daughter had the filet with fettuccine Alfredo on the side and I ordered linguine with clams in a white sauce with scallops on the side. And, for dessert, we each had a homemade limoncello shot and shared a slice of lemon cake. We were introduced to Jim, Kim, and Cee, the owner, along with his son, Nick. Our entire experience was unbelievable. I cannot stress enough how nice it was to go to Colao’s Family owned restaurant with such a pleasant atmosphere. The food was the best we’ve ever had. Thank you so much for the warm welcoming and service. We can’t wait to go again!!!More

My husband and I traveled from Pittsburgh to Erie for a quick getaway. We found Coalo's on TripAdvisor and decided to give it a try. It is in a neighborhood, away from the more touristy Lake Erie areas with chain restaurants. The atmosphere is great....It's family-owned and one of the owners greeted us. We have been to a lot of Italian restaurants all over the country, and this is one of the best we have ever experienced. The service was impeccable, thanks to Luisa and Jim. We had 2 of the Chef's Specialties--Crabmeat Stuffed Manicotti and Vodka Formaggio Ravioli. The salad comes with the dinner and it was fresh and crispy Romaine. I had the house-made Gorgonzola Italian. Very light, not creamy. DELICIOUS! This is a must when you are in Erie. We will go back. Highly recommend. The entire menu looked great, but we do recommend the Chef's Specialties. And, it was great to support a local business getting back on its feet after the COVID shutdown.More

When I say this is one of the best Italian Restaurants we have eaten at I mean it. The Atmosphere , the service, the drinks, and the food were all top notch. I had a pear martini (or two) that was so good. My husband...got the lasagna which he just loved. Our server, Shannon was so friendly and helpful.More

We picked up from Colao's while staying in Erie for essential travel. We got the lasagna and the mozzarella, tomato salad. Both were AMAZING. The lasagna was authentic and the flavors were out of this world. The mozzarella in the salad was creamy, homemade, and...delicious. The dressing that came with it was also so tasty and great for dipping the bread they gave us in. Well done, Colao's!More

I could eat here every night. Portions are generous, prices are right in line with even chain restaurants. Consistently delicious. I usually have leftovers. Nick is super nice and C is amazing.
