I called in, to place order and the lady over the phone was rude. I ever heard. No type of customer service skills, she sounded like she was mad and didn't wanna take my order. In the middle of my order she hung up on...me, I called back and she just kept clicking on me, I guess this place don't wanna make any type of money or they looking to close down. But glad she kept hanging up on me cause all of the reviews that i been reading the food is horrible and the place is a very old run down place. McDonald have a better customer service. Maybe the manager need to work on a better staff.More

Recently went to Ollies. My husband and I wanted an omelette actually for our dinner. We both ordered Western omelettes with cheesecubed potatoes and toast. This is where it went downhill. Omelettes had no filling , potatoes were so salty almost inedible, and the toast...was really bread not toast and dripping in butter. I have had MANY omelettes at Ollies an d this whole meal was just bad. Ollies you better get your cooks trained better because your breakfast foods were pure and simple awful.More

Went to Ollie's for dinner on a Sunday, Got seated and waited for the "waitress". She took the drink order and our food order. Brought the salads. Eventually brought the meal and that was the last we saw of her until we asked the woman...seating people if she could please get our "waitress". Waited a little longer end finally our "waitress" came to the table. When she did she obviously had attitude probably because we had asked about her whereabouts. Then there was the food. Bland no taste and looked like it had been frozen. Haddock was not appealing at all. Everything looked like it was thrown on the plate. In addition, this restaurant is in need of some serious maintenance. Booths are ripped and the place just looks unkempt and dirty. The salad bar is a joke especially for what they charge for it. The young man who was apparently taking care of stocking and cleaning that area had a towels over his shoulder which he used repeatedly to wipe off the counter of the salad bar. Maybe a cleaning spray or a towel that was not sitting on a person would be better. Definitely not someplace we would return. When paying the bill at the register the woman looked like we were bothering her. No thank you nothing. Go at your own peril!!!More

Great family style restaurant near skiing areas. Family had the Seafood Casserole, Meatloaf, and Crab Cakes. Everything was fresh. Coming from NYC, this place is a very refreshing eating establishment with great food, excellent service, and affordable prices! Alot of food served, so we couldn't...try the desserts unfortunately. Was so good we came back a second time! The town rolls up the streets so best to eat here earlier than later.More

Had been here twice over the years when visiting. Was in the area recently and my mother wanted some soup so I suggested eating here. The place needs a face lift, it’s a bit run down inside and out. Yes they have a large menu...but sometimes less is more! Mother ordered a steak, baked potato, salad and a cup of soup, she never received her cup of soup. I ordered baked haddock with baked potato and asked for cheese only to go on the potato and apple sauce (the side selection wasn’t much who wants cole slaw when you are already paying extra for the salad bar). We both fixed a small salad (the plates are square and tiny for a salad bar) and a slice of crusty bread which two flies were on each of the loaves sitting out. The potatoes are NOT baked, they are boiled. I didn’t receive cheese but white butter, which I had to ask what it was, in a plastic container and sour cream. My fish looked watery, and ONE taste was enough for me to send it back. Menu states fresh. Hmmm. It was rubbery. Certainly not flakey and it was very thin. There was a long black hair under my mom’s steak on the white plate. She had ate a few bites and then lost her appetite once she saw the hair. Steak was nothing to brag about, that’s for sure. So in more than one place on the menu it states salad bar, NOT soup, $3.99 with meal. We get up to leave and are charged $8.99, for what? It takes a few minutes to find the waitress who tells me: I was told to charge you that when I took your fish plate off the bill. What?? Someone in management MADE UP an amount to charge me. I told her no way was I paying that for a tiny salad, one trip to the salad bar! She goes to talk to someone else. I’m at the front counter waiting and looking thru the menu trying to find this $8.99 salad which I do NOT find on their menu. A manager comes out, says he was wondering who’s plate it was as others ordered the same thing and there was no issues and how fresh their fish was. I asked how I could be charged this amount and he told the waitress to correct the bill. Was so upset that I didn’t take pics of the food. NEVER EVER AGAIN WOULD WE EAT HERE.More

This place reminds us of the old Lums. Excellent homemade soups and salad bar. We had the mushroom burger and the patty melt and they were excellent. The sweet potato fries were delicious. Prices were fair and the service was excellent.

Good mix of different foods and serve breakfast all day plus specials daily. Have various deserts including pie and cake. Better than average all you eat soup and salad bar. 4 soups to pick from. They have delicious duchess cheese soup and chicken noodle all...the time plus 2 others that are different almost daily.More

Our waitress had to take care of an entire section during a busy Sunday, so that was frustrating when we needed refills or to place our order. The food was good--not great, just OK. You don't have many options in Edwardsville, so Ollie's wasn't a...bad place to spend an hour. Your typical run-down family restaurant with locals that apparently visit every Sunday, based on their familiarity with the staff.More

There's really only one thing worth mentioning that's good about this place ... their salad and Soup Bar is something that will make an impression on you. Nothing big and flashy like what you see would see at Ruby Tuesday's... but there's always four choices...of soups which seem homemade... And 4 loaves of bread that always seemed fresh... And the cute little salad bar it's a little bit more to offer than the basics... Now the person that keeps that salad bar restocked is amazing. Because it always seems like I'm the only person that's been up to that salad bar even though it's super busy all the time. That worker does a great job of keeping it fresh looking and fully stocked. Now I'm a stickler for service probably because I'm in the industry and I know what I go through to provide friendly service and a good experience for my customers. So I get especially sensitive when I go out to eat myself and I'm disregarded or treated like crap. This was one of those places where I had an experience that really just change my mind about this business and I probably will never go back. I walked in to Ollie's around 8 one night. They sent me in a section that the waitress had only my table and the rest of it was empty. I ordered the New York strip steak, and requested it to be cooked medium, I also told the waitress that I wanted to add the soup and salad bar to my meal. She was very sweet and told me I could get started on the salad. She walked away to put in my order. So I was sitting there long enough to eat two soup Bowls and had just begun to start working on my salad, when the hostess came over and sat a party of 5 people in her section. I continued eating and notice this other table go up and get salads and soups as I did. About another 10 minutes go by because now I'm finished with my salad and have just about read everything in my Reddit feed... And I noticed that the table that have 5 people at it, all got their food before I got my steak. The waitress walked over to me, mumbled something about the cooks in the kitchen, apologize to me and then left... At that point I just really didn't want the steak anymore. I honestly had ordered the steak so I can get the salad bar for the cheaper price and I planned on taking most of the steak home. At this point I just truly walked up to the cashier, told the man what happened, and asked him if he could remove the steak dinner from my ticket and I would just pay for the salad. He seemed pretty rude about the situation, and he accommodated my request, but he really seem to care less about anything. He just checked me out without saying one word to me. Pretty much made me feel like " Just give me the money and get out". You just don't treat people like that. I usually don't see this guy at the cashier but I hope I don't ever see him there again if I do return. He's a loser when it comes to good service. Stop trying to save money and hire someone who's good at the job Mr. Owner.More
