We stopped here the other day for breakfast. They advertise breakfast all day. Their breakfast menu consists of 2 items and they won’t prepare anything else but those. We asked the waitress for omelettes and she had to go ask if the “chef” would make...them and we saw him shake his head no. Really? We walked out and went down the road to the Middlesex Diner which is where we generally go.More

The desk clerk at the Red Roof recommended this restaurant and we tried it. Wow!!! It was all home cooked food. They have a senior’s menu and I had the chopped steak with onions and mushrooms. The chopped steak was just that and not just...ground beef. Along with the mashed potatoes, it was covered with a delicious gravy. Although a senior portion, it was more than expected. My wife had the meat loaf with home made apple sauce and baked corn. Everything was great and home made. Both senior portions were really more than we could eat. As we looked around at other people’s meals, we were glad we ordered the senior menu. Just heaping platefuls. We also got a 10% discount for showing our Red Roof door key. If you’re in the area, this is a must go to!More

Food was great - service very efficient - nice to have this place to provide food and comfort on those long PA turnpike trips. Try it and you will not be disappointed.

One of the biscuits seemed to be full of lard. Coffee ordered but never received so got it to go....it was tasteless. Cranberry chicken salad was excellent. BBQ sampler-had brisket and pulled pork...excellent, maybe the best that I've ever had. Pancakes were good too. I...would give it another try.More

Exceptional service from this young man and the food was delicious. We saw the sign off the highway and decided to stop by to relax and grab a bite to eat. We will make note of this location and come back again!

Hickory Ridge has kept the same "Customer Care" quality and mindset since they have opened their first location. They take all and any criticism seriously and make Guest Satisfaction a #1 priority! We visited their Carlisle location on Sat. Oct. 3rd for their "Grand Reopening"...festivities. They had multiple free giveaways, "name the sasquatch" contest, Amish baked goods, etc along with Impeccable Service. We ordered their well known Fried Chicken and to our surprise the breading was better than before and the consistency of cooking was on point. Their mac 'n cheese has made a dramatic change and is way better than ever before. The homemade stuffing and green beans 'n ham are delicious as always remembered. My sons burger and Fresh Cut fries were perfect and delicious. Never unsatisfied at this place!! Check them out. Just once, I Dare ya!More

We stopped at this restaurant on the way back to Lancaster, PA from Stuarts Draft, Virginia. We walked inside the door and looked at the menu that was written on a chalkboard. There was no one there to greet us and then we walked a...little further and asked someone we saw what we needed to do in order to be served .I told him that we would like a booth. He told us to go ahead of him and pick our booth. There weren't many available in the dining room that was the closest. So he took us to an other area where they had some available. We ordered our soft drinks and then later ordered our dinner. I ordered the turkey dinner. It included turkey and filling and you could choose two more sides. I chose the mashed potatoes and baked corn. You need to be aware that the potatoes and filling come with gravy on them. So I just asked them to not put gravy on them. My food was very good . The temperature of the food was lukewarm. My husband had the barbeque sampler-you could either have the two or three choices of meat. He got the two choice platter. He chose the barbeque beef brisket-which he thought was excellent. He also had the choice of two sides. He ordered the fresh made fries which he thought was excellent also. His second side was corn nuggets-which they forgot to bring him until he brought it to their attention-and they were not very good-not sweet. After eating most of our meals I heard one of the servers ask a customer if they wanted biscuits and apple butter. I believe this is a part of your meal and we were never offered them-we would have liked it if they offered them at the beginning of the meal rather than while we were already eating our entree so we didn't mention it. After returning home I went to their website and found that they have a seniors menu which we also weren't offered. We were not told the soups that they had. I saw a bowl of something being served and asked what kind of soups they had. We ordered the beef brisket chili and the chicken corn soup with rivals to go. The food here is above average and the portions are big (we took home some of the turkey, most of the baked corn, the meatloaf and the corn fritters. I felt that the service was lacking because when you entered the restaurant there wasn't a person to take care of you and that we were not offered the biscuits and applebutter, and also that they forgot my husbands cornfritters and not telling us if there was a senior menu. If in the area we would eat there again now that we know what to do and ask for.More

Out for a Sunday ride while coming back on the PA Turnpike and decided to get off at the Carlisle exit to find a diner to eat. First when into town, everything seems to be shut down. Then on I-81 North saw a sign for...this restaurant. Not a diner but was a real treat. Service was excellent and the BBQ was great! My wife had a Ruben which she said was the best corn beef she every had, and she had sandwich’s a Jr’s in Brooklyn & Katz’s Deli in NYC. I had the brisket dinner, nice portion of beef with two sides. The beef was tender easily cut with a fork. 5 stars for Hickory Ridge.More

Traveling north after 5 hour saw a billboard for this restaurant. Got off an exit not realizing the diner was located here. Saw it and decided to try it out Katie welcomed us and was our waitress. Efficient and friendly. The menu had a lot...of choices including a Senior menu. Turkey and dressing was good and pork and sauerkraut was as well. For a diner, very good. CleanMore

We were travelling through Carlisle & stopped at Hockory Ridge because it was well-reviewed, just off the highway, and had a parking area with space for our 26 foot motor home. We were pleased by the homey atmosphere, welcoming staff, and delicious "roast turkey with...filling" meals. We left happy and satisfied, but also without my lucky driving cap which I had worn for each of our RV trips since 1995! We were 55 miles down the road when I realized this, and it was nearing dark so we couldn't reasonably turn back. I called the restaurant, my cap was located, and Amy readily offered to mail it to me at the South Carolina state park where we were planning to spend several days later that week. It arrived and we're happily back on the road. Talk about a friendly family restaurant! This one, and especially its staff, deserves high praise & many many customers! Thanks for being there for us.More
