The Benezette hotel and restaurant are almost a required stop when you come to see the elk. There was a steady line of customers waiting outside each time we drove by so on our last day here we went in. The prices are very reasonable and the smoked brisket was very tasty. The meatloaf was not good however, being way over spiced with what tasted like rosemary or thyme. The service was very good with waitresses that appear to truly enjoy their jobs.

Limited menu and we were there at 3 and was told no brisket until 4 (which is what we wanted) and no baked potatoes even though they were on the limited menu. The ribs were fall-off-the bone good. Mashed potatoes instead of baked potato were ok. Restaurant was clean and took extra maybe unnecessary precautions because of Covid-19. I would eat here again.

Arrived a bit after 11 am. Seated promptly. Despite the smoked specials wife enjoyed a pulled pork sandwich with chips while I had the hot Italian sausage with chips. Both were hot and tasty. I also had a Straubs dark ale ( a great choice. The place got quite busy with noon approaching. Some locals and some out-of-towners. Atmosphere pleasant. Servers wore face masks and the booths in particular had plastic partitions atop common seat backs. After a morning seeing several elk, numerous deer and flocks of turkey the lunch made for a nice break before heading home. Would certainly eat there again.

We had been once in the past and is was super busy. We are not picky but at the previous visit I ordered pulled pork and my entire plate came out literally smelling like a burnt paper towel. I tried to eat a bite and it was disgusting. The other 2 meals at our table were ok at best and mostly went uneaten. Our server was busy so we eventually just paid and left. We decided to give it another try yesterday. The bar area was busy so we tried to pick a table (only 1-2 other tables with people). Ended up moving around before sitting as there was a loud tv. Ended up by the bathrooms which wasn’t ideal. I ordered a salad with grilled chicken. Was basically iceberg lettuce with a bit of cucumber and tomato. The honey mustard dressing was pretty thick in the cups and made me wonder how long it had been sitting. Chicken tasted a little weird but otherwise bland. Husband got grilled cheese and soup which was ok. I had a stomach ache later. It wasn’t horrible but I won’t go again. No 3rd chance. Not sure why people give it such good reviews honestly.

7 of us went for a late afternoon meal. 3 couples and a single person. The wait was 20 minutes, which was fine. The zucchini appetizer was like zucchini fries. The elk burger was small, very dry, on a stale bun. The fries were not good at all. A dinner salad at our table was the best meal ordered. The wings( a friend's dinner choice) came out a good 10 minutes after we all had our meals. Our checks were all mixed up, wrong people on each check. We had to have the server reissue them. I would not recommend this place.

This small restaurant is the only place in the area to grab a bite to eat. We ordered the brisket from the smokehouse menu. Three large slices of wonderfully smoked brisket with a side of french fries for a VERY reasonable price. Their bbq sauce is delightful and not overly swee with a bit of heat. They are short staffed but fully staffed with people who care about their job. I'd recommend if you're in the area. Be patient, it's worth it.

It kind of reminded me of every small town bar and it has a homey atmosphere. Drinks were served in mason jars which I thought was a great touch. I had the Italian chicken sandwich on a brioche bun and it was fantastic! There are lots of herds of elk around and when we pulled in, there was a need on the other side of the parking lot fence.

Visited on a Tuesday. Short staffed. Waited 15 minutes to be seated with over half the tables empty. Cheeseburger, golden garlic fries & Turkey on Texas toast with mashed potatoes all smothered in gravy. Took 45 minutes to get our food. Did not bring any silverware and only one napkin for both of us. Cheeseburger was burnt on the outside and completely raw in the inside. Turkey was on regular bread, not texas toast and mashed potatoes were instant. Meal was horrible & over priced. Service was astoundingly bad. On top of that, the men's room has no door on it's stalls. Talk about lack of privacy We'll never go back there.

Went for the first time last night. We own a camp nearby and after many years we thought we would give this try. Big mistake. I can get over the paper plates and styrofoam, but not over the poor quality food. The chicken was dry, the beans came straight out of a can, no seasoning or butter. The roll was so old and hard, it would probably penetrate a windowpane if thrown. And overpriced to boot. We left hungry.

I was concerned with COVID limitations that we would have trouble finding a place to eat. We decided to go here, no matter what, even if we had to wait. Friday night, and Saturday night, no wait! And the place was busy- and with limited capacity. (We were only a party of two- larger groups were outside) Our food was just what we were looking for both nights. My husband absolutely loved the smoked wings! I admit, we weren’t sure what we would get with the nachos, but they were some of the best we have had in a long time!! Real melted cheese and colorful chips! Great local wine. I doubt we will ever eat anywhere else in town when we come to visit.

We stayed at cabins in Benezette and this was one of two places on the main drag to eat. We wound up eating here both nights as the other place is only opens Fri-Sun. The Benezette hotels offers more than just bar food. We had burgers the first night and prime rib the second night. A great place to grab a bite that's close to everything.

Our waitress greeted us with warm smiles. She took our drink orders, and brought them to us quickly. Then, she disappeared. Another waitress took our food order. I don’t remember who brought us the food. A different person brought us the bill. After a long wait, I accosted another waitress so we could pay the bill. Aside from the service, food was also disappointing. The smoked wings were dry. The sandwich reminded me of a Wendy’s commercial, where’s the beef …

We stopped in to have an early dinner. There was a 45 minute wait to eat inside. No outside dining which was disappointing during Covid! We tried our first Elk burger and it was very good and reasonably priced. There are not too many other choices for dinner in this area. Mostly bar food but good, cheap bar food!

Thank you for having the food truck at the visitor center. It allowed the kids to get something to east while we waited for the elk to show up at dusk. The food was great and the guys running the truck were nice and friendly. Reasonable prices too!
