We were on a business trip to western Ohio. After driving for 5+ hours, we were spending the night in Belle Vernon, PA. We did not want fast food for dinner. I researched Trip Advisor for a restaurant. “The Back Porch” caught m eye. This...is a lovely 5 star restaurant in a building from the 1800’s. The building is along the Monongahela River. From the shrimp cocktail to the rack of lamb and the Maine sea scallops, everything was superb. The almond torte with raspberry sauce was to “die for”. The service was beyond excellent. Mark, our server, was so helpful and attentive. If you are ever in the area, this is one restaurant you do not want to miss. You won’t be disappointed.More

My first visit to the Back Porch Restaurant was in 1986. It was then that I fell in love with the atmosphere and the food. Our family has celebrated anniversaries, birthdays, and many special events at The Back Porch since then, all of which were...beyond our expectations— but we had been away for a few years- only to return this past Saturday for dinner. Not at all disappointed. Atmosphere, service and the meal were all wonderful! Feels like home! Quite simply - perfect!!More

I had the barbecued ribs, and they we’re truly delicious! The atmosphere in this is an old home , but beautifully decorated! It has the old fireplaces and a very homey environment! The waiters and cooks are exceptional! Also very romantic!

Great food, attentive but not intrusive service. Always quietly first class. As a seafood fan, calamari is light and crisp, never greasy. Topped off dinner with fresh, creative desserts .

If your traveling on I-70, East or West find some time to stop and enjoy this local restaurant for lunch or dinner. Met up with friends from Pittsburg. Always has some interesting specials and some mighty fine desserts. Service is excellent. I would recommend making...a reservation. Our server was Dan, who was excellent. had a strip steak, with a nice sauce. Shared an Almond cake for dessert, which was outstanding.More

We go to the Back Porch now just for holidays, primarily Thanksgiving, but my family had gone for years, many years ago. The setting and property remain lovely, in a restored home in which they serve meals on three floors. The Thanksgiving dinner is just...delicious, every aspect of it, from the breadbasket with multiple offerings, both sweet and savory, to the wonderful butternut squash soup, (perhaps my favorite part of the meal, if I had to choose, and I'm glad I don't!) a green salad, to the turkey itself, moist with a delicious gravy, mashed potato, sweet potato, and absolutely save room for wonderful desserts, incl especially, the creme brûlée, the favorite at our table each year. You will be glad you went - but reserve early, very early, especially if you need seating on the main floor. This place fills up almost the minute people leave, for the following year!More
