We have eaten here several times, and have never had a bad meal. Wear long sleeves and bring a sweater because the restaurant is always frigid! The lamb chop was excellent as well as their steaks. We had the deviled egg appetizer. There were 3 half eggs... that's right... 1 and 1/2 eggs... $10. Expensive! Plan on spending some money... More

We made a point to stop for our Sunday dinner on our drive from Washington DC to Pittsburgh, it is about the half way mark and a wonderful end to a celebratory weekend. Valet parking is complimentary (without being validated). Restaurant can be found after entering the main doors, turning to the right, then to the right of the front... More

My family and I surprised my mother with reservations at the 1796 Room. She was not disappointed and neither were we. First of all, the service was excellent. Our waitress was very attentive and pleasant. The food was also fantastic. My filet mignon, which I asked to be medium rare, was cooked to perfection. Quite literally to top it off,... More

The decor is stunning, the food even better and the prices are appropriate. The location is next to a tavern, in the hotel and you might walk past the Crystal Room to get an idea of your alternatives. They say they have a broiler that is hotter than Ruth's Cris. The Omni has never been shy to hire a great... More

This restaurant has a great ambience about it, It was cozy, the food was excellent (and filling), and portions were a good size. Everything, however, was extra. Not even one side was included. There are other steakhouses that have this practice, yet $2.00 for steak sauce was a little outrageous. No complaints at all about the quality or freshness of... More

My husband and I had dinner here while staying at the hotel. This restaurant is a more intimate room just off the Frontier Tavern within the hotel. In addition to traditional tables, there are also tables for two with side by side seating. Initially, we were seated at a table in the middle of the room, but our server recommended... More

The menu offers a broad variety of top notch, perfectly prepared dishes, using the freshest available ingredients. Some of the ingredients are home grown on their own property. The service personnel are excellently trained and offered us superb service. Their wine list is top notch and should satisfy anyone's taste preference. The dining area is most pleasant, carrying through the colonial... More

Yes, 1796 is pricey, but you will hear no complaints from us. Our dinner was fantastic. First, they had one our favorite bottles our wine. Next my filet was one of the best that I have ever had. Cooked perfect and huge. The buttered mashed potatoes are wonderful as a side. My wife had the crab cakes which were loaded... More
