Pleasantly surprised to find the Barlow Train Roadhouse in Welches, OR. We stayed at the Reort at the Mountain and were looking for something local that wouldnt break the budget. Barlow Trail Roadhouse had a little of everything on the menu. I had the fried half chicken and my family did the meat loaf plate, gyro, and chicken fried staek... More

We stopped for lunch but ended up eating from the breakfast menu. Good selection and well prepared. Homemade bisquit with honey gave a down home taste to the meal.

The weather is perfect... dry, crisp, Fall day -- perfect for sitting outside, and fortunately they have a nice covered deck outside of this historic log cabin. I needed an early dinner and since they were running a spaghetti special with garlic toast and Italian sausage for $4.95, I'm like... why not?! The Witmer Weiss beer was cold and wonderful.... More

if you have time, and are ok with mediocre food, then this is the place. Often you can get seated quicker in the bar which is usually a good option, but you can also easily be forgotten if you are the only ones dining in there. Food is so-so, they used to be much better but have gone down hill... More

Stopped for gas and asked for the best place to have dinner. This was the recommendation. We were very pleased. Lots of stuff to choose from on the menu and all at very reasonable prices! I had the special (Chicken & Dumplings - all home made and VERY yummy). Breakfast menu looked so good - we came back for breakfast... More

Our party of 6 stopped in on a Friday night about 8 p.m. The restaurant was nearly empty (beginning of off season) so our service was attentive and helpful. She ran through the menu, answered our questions and offered suggestions for dinner. Two of us had the halibut and chips (they were willing to substitute the fries) and were pleased,... More

We like to stop at the Barlow Trail Roadhouse on the way to Central Oregon. The service is always very friendly. They were very busy, but we were served promptly. They food was excellent. The offer lunch and dinner as well, but we have not been by there at that time.

I almost hate to share my favorite spot on MT Hood - Hoodland area- Barlow, of course. Great atmosphere in the original cabin or on the bar side and some of the best service around. Emu thing is delicious from the homemade biscuits to the Nine egg omelet smothered in gravy. Also serves some of the best home fry potatoes... More
