The Baldwin Saloon serves tasty, high-end food. My husband and I both had an excellent top sirloin with prawns, which was all meat and no flab. We shared a delicious, grand marnier-enhanced chocolate mouse. Salad being included in the price of the meal is always appreciated, especially real leaf lettuce that is not past its prime.

Best ever french onion soup. Loved the Greek salad as well. Service is awesome too and the decor is cool!

We stopped on our way from Boise to Portland. I tend to look for eateries that represent the local culture of the community. What a treat it turned out to be! We both had different versions of Fettuccine Alfredo. Definitely the best I have had. My husband has lived in Europe, so his experience has been broader than mine, but... More

We stopped in for a few drinks while walking around town. The bartender was awesome, friendly, and very engaging. The drinks were pretty good, but it was the history of the bar and the artwork on the walls that made it such a great time. Not for the prudes due to the nudes.

We were in the very historic city of The Dalles for a meeting, and arrived a little early. We were greeted warmly and the waiter was attentive, friendly, and yet very professional. He suggested an appetizer of stuffed dates wrapped in bacon, and they exceeded our expectations! We had a very tasty lunch, and an all-round exceedingly pleasant experience! Highly... More

Dined here based on reviews by other travelers, but my meal was a huge disappointment. Salad was great, but the Halibut was tasteless. Really was no taste at all. Terrible. Bread was nothing special either. Best part of the experience was watching Union Pacific trains roar past just across the street from the restaurant.

We had lunch here twice during our two-day stay in The Dalles for the Columbia Gorge Fiber Festival. Intended to come back for dessert one evening (creme brulee, walnut torte!) but ran out of time and energy. Old brick building, high ceilings, dramatic chandeliers, excellent food, excellent service. Some tables have a view of the river, others are cozy booths.... More

While the chili was among the best I have had with thick chunks of beef the historical decor is an event in itself. The original oil painting of nudes in and above the bar bare tails of the bawdry history of The Dalles as well as the Englebart oils of famous mountains around the west of the US offer contrasting... You must go here if only for the Spicy Chicken Ranchero Soup starter!! We had a very tasty halibut and chips here. Good service and pleasant surroundings.

Given 13 ravenous people, our server (Kristy) handled the orders and managed a few substitutions ('ingredient outage') with perfect aplomb. The various appetizers (stuffed portobello mushrooms, barely breaded but oh-so-tender chicken strips, Buffalo wings, and bacon-wrapped dates) were delicious, well presented, and got the juices flowing for the main courses. Food coma comin'! Personally had the Mediterranean Chicken Fettucini and... More
