So we heard about the Cowboy Dinner Tree from a close friend. We made the 2 and a half hour drive to check it out. We were totally blown away by our experience. If you’re going to come bring your appetite. The steak is huge...butt that’s not the problem. The Salad and the Beans leading up to the steak are amazing as well. So you really have to try to not eat too much before you get to the main dish. The service was s great and so are the people. We stayed in a cabin on site which was wonderful. We Will Be Back For Sure.More

The food is beyond amazing. But go hungry because you will probably be taking home a doggy bag full of yummys! I had the steak and it was cooked to perfection

The cowboy dinner tree meal was fantastic. Lots of food and excellent staff. But one of my favorite parts of staying there in a cabin was the resident cat. His name is Bear. If you have a cute black cat with no tail come to...your door please let him in. He's very friendly and if he really likes you he will spend the night. Don't worry, he will ask to go outside when he needs to go to the bathroom and then wants back in. Made my day.More

As we ran toward July and the beginning of summer vacation, we checked an experience off our “Bucket List”. Keith and I met up with his two brothers and their wives in Silver Lake Oregon. We had dinner at The Cowboy Dinner Tree. If you...have not heard of it, it is worthy of a Google search. They do one thing and they do it very well. If you decide to add this destination dinner to your list here is what you should know; You must have a reservation and pre-order your meal. Everyone gets fresh tossed salad, a piping hot bowl of Buckeroo pinto bean soup, homemade bread dripping with butter, a baked potato and your choice of either a whole roasted chicken or a steak the size of a small roast. Just when you reached your limit of food, the sweetest little portion of berry shortcake was delivered and it was so flavorful and perfect. They do not serve alcohol, but the lemonade or ice tea was bottomless and refreshing. I have to admit, I was a little surprised at just how Rustic both the interior and exterior of the restaurant was but it is a whole vibe for being on the cattle trail and pulling in for some grub. We had fun, we laughed, we dined, we shopped in the gift store and we left happy for the delicious food and the experience completed.More

Nice little cabin with coffee maker. That's important bc the nearest hot drinks are an hour away in the morning. Fun day trip, but bring mosquito spray. Way more dinner than anyone can eat. The soup was really good

The Cowboy Dinner Tree has been on our bucket list for many years. It far outpaced our expectations. Great food, wonderful staff and no sense of rushing us through. Totally authentic cowboy interior design and décor. They realize you will not, in all likelihood, eat...the entire meal during your visit, so a generous number of doggie bags are also provided. Only two menu items, whole chicken or an approximately 30oz steak. Both come with a generous complement of sides and dessert. Be sure to secure reservations at least 3-4 weeks in advance and remember...this is a cash only establishment. Highly recommended by both my wife and I!!More

We had heard about this restaurant for many years and had reservations to visit a year ago--but the "Bootleg Fire" closed things the very day of our reservation. We had to try again and this time, success!! The experience did not disappoint. The food portions...are huge--bring a cooler for the leftovers. The quality of the food is excellent, the beef is sourced locally. The ambiance is rustic to be sure. The location of all of this is miraculous and so incredibly creative so far as we are concerned. If you find drinking your beverage from a Mason jar uncouth or are bothered by a lack of staff formal attire, this is not for you. We are trying to come up with an excuse to make the trip and go back with friends in tow.More

Very rustic out-of-the-way restaurant, that requires advance booking and ordering. Our kids had the chicken, and adults had the top sirloin. Very enjoyable and filling meal. Be warned, the sirloin is HUGE. A good 3000 calories by itself.

It is an OUTSTANDING dining experience! All of it was wonderful, no pretense just good food. Reservations are required and you must order either steak or chicken when making the reservations. Salad, soup, hot rolls, and dessert are included. This is in remote high-desert Oregon...- sagebrush and junipers - absolutely beautiful!More

You drive out into the middle of what seems like nowhere. You think there can't possibly be a restaurant out here but there is. Enjoy the scenery as you drive out. Make an early reservation if you're like us and don't like to drive out...in the middle of no where when it's pitch dark because you worry about hitting an animal. You will not leave this place hungry. The outside of the building doesn't look like much. It looks rustic and very old west. It's super cute. The inside is clean and rustic. If you're reading this review during Covid times please be aware no one wears masks. The staff are very friendly and joke around about the portion sizes. Bring cash! They don't take cards. Everyone gets the same foods, the only difference is if you want steak or chicken. You're brought a bowl of salad to dish up family style. Then the bean soup comes out, family style, fluffy delicious rolls, and then the main course. Steak or chicken with a baked potato. The steak is huge, it's thick and fills the whole plate. The waitress said they are all cooked medium well. I'm not a rea meat fan so I had the chicken. They bring you a whole chicken. The skin is crispy and the meat is tender. My family had the steak and said it was very moist and tender and tasted delicious. This was a fun experience.More

We drove down from LaPine through sagebrush and purple mountains majesty. Saw antelope, jack rabbits, a badger, and a horizon to horizon sky. Found the restaurant. We had made reservations months earlier. You are now in a bunkhouse/ chuck wagon/ wood clad cowboy building. The...waitress had her hands full as I bet they are sold out every night here in the middle of the desert. Very friendly and patient answering the same questions night after night. 'Yes, cash only'. No we have no internet. Yes, you did just step in a cow patty with your high heels. But you’ve been warned about the portions. You are prepared. You are starving. You have preordered the steak for you and the chicken for her. But first home made rolls, beans, a salad that would feed a garden club. Delicious delicious delicious. Homemade dressing. The steak arrives and doesn’t quite fit on the plate. Fresh off the grill. Juicy. Perfection. The chicken, and I mean the whole chicken, is cracklin' good, moist, smoky. You chew and chew. But you are clever. You remembered the ice chest for your next few days of meals. You push back from the table. Ah. But they are sneaky. You forgot the huckleberry/strawberry shortcake. Curses foiled again.More
