I greatly regret not going here years earlier, though we had to wait for a table, it was well worth it. Everything was cooked to perfection and of the best quality. Try their prime rib!

After reading the bad reviews about this place I have to say a few things. If you want a 5 star restaurant don't come here. This place is not fancy. its dated. Don't expect it to be something it is not. No foo foo drinks....No fancy place settings. No parsley on the plate or other unnecessary garnishes. Just a place where you can fill up and hit the skies. This is a place where hungry people come to eat that want a good tasting filling meal. Think of it as a "truck stop" for pilots. You go in thinking like that and you are going to get exactly what you expected. Good honest food that fills you up and keeps you going, We were told about this place by the guys over at the Lacey Lady. And we WILL be returning to eat here again.More
Hubby and I have been in Salem for 9 years and never visited the Flight Deck...Salem is not known for having many good breakfast restaurants, sadly..so first timers there. Of course, the glass wall overlooking the tiny airport is part of the experience. The service...(Ashley H.) was very friendly and cheerful...always appreciate the cheerfulness in breakfast dining...We had the chicken fried steak with eggs and hash browns. I recommend the LITE portion - it is gargantuan! But, for me the BISCUIT was over the moon....it's mini-loaf-bread-sized! and good! Hubby and I brought half of all of our plate home with enough for another breakfast...I told hubby to bring me biscuits from Flight Deck for my birthdays instead of cake...we will return -More
What a fun idea! It’s located right on the edge of Salem’s municipal airport so you can watch pilot’s do preflight checks and planes take off and land. Holiday drinks were amazing and food was yummy. Husband loved the clam chowder. Service was warm and...friendly.More
Good dinner with friends who came back even though their first experience wasn’t good. I like the Caesar salad with chicken. They chop the lettuce in small pieces which is nice. Husband had prime rib which was fine. Fish and chips were fine. #salemoregon#comfortfood#airportrestaurant
Actually, I would give this 3 1/2 "stars."We met a friend here fro breakfast and enjoyed the food. Sitting by one of the large windows is great; not much going on Sunday morning, but still, it's a cool place to have a restaurant. The eggs...I ordered were cooked well, the bacon was cooked ( a little chewy, not crispy, but not undercooked either) and the hashbrowns were quite good. The only problem I have was the spotty service. Sometimes it was good, like coming around with more coffee and then when we were ready to pay, the waitress vanished and didn't come around for a while. Other than that, not bad at all.More
Just ate a wonderful crab omelette and my husband ate great Fish and Chips! Reasonable prices and it is fun to watch the planes take off and land!
Food (BLT for her, Plane Burger for me) was average; service was unfriendly and spotty. The cook, talking with other diners was loud and distracting.
First impression, seated in a big sunroom looking out on runways: nice! Then greeted by bubbly personality-plus Ashley, who made good suggestions for menu choices. Crab cocktail was a generous portion, enough to share, as was the tasty chicken Marsala. Drinks were very good too,...and the friendly young bartender checked on us to make sure. We enjoyed the creme brûlée too. Best dining experience in recent memory!More
My wife and I live this place! We go here and order something different every time. I haven’t had one bad thing. It has a perfect view of the planes taking off and landing. Go check it out!
I love fried chicken and they make it perfect! The service is great, totally on top of the wants and needs of the customer!!! Just great food, great price, great portions, great service and your at the Air Field how cool is that? Love everything...about the Flight Deck! Angela JonesMore
This is only the second review ive ever written. I always just keep it in and assume a business is having a bad day. Not the case here. Two new owners waltzed in and changed all the food. It is of mcdonalds quality at best....Please do not spend hard earned money on an establishment that treats its staff, food, and customers like garbage. I have extreme sympathy for the people who have to work for this type of business. They dont matter and we the customer dont matter. I could not feel more strongly on the matter.More
I flew my airplane into the Salem Airport and parked in the close in parking area for visiting aircraft. This is right next to the Flight Deck Restaurant. I ordered based on the waitress lunch menu recommendation of a crab melt and a salad. The...crab melt was good but the salad was bag lettuce and was uninspired. Nice decor with airplane models hanging from the ceilings. Not up to par with other airport eateries that I have flown to in the last three months, but acceptable for the location without have to take a taxi in to town.More
Wife and I have lived in Salem, for approximately 6 years before moving to the coast. We have always frequented the Flight Deck for some drinks and food. Service is always great and we have never had one complaint since we have ever gone there....Well, there is one. Sometimes it gets pretty crowded. I guess that's what happens when it's a nice quaint place for gathering of friends. But, we always come back.More
We like the airport views and food is usually very good, down home cuisine. Their deep fried dill pickle and tater tots are the best in town.
