Understaffed, restrooms had no soap or towels, table not sufficiently cleaned, air conditioner temp set too low & fans blowing at tables requiring a coat, waited over an hour for entrees & sushi served well after meals finished. “Hot” tea was luke warm. Our waitress...was doing her best Will not return.More

Went in here on a referral from a friend. Walked in and the place looked a bit run down. Outdated furniture and a Sushi chef behind the counter that looks like he hasn't a good day in years. I kindly asked him if they honored...military discount, he looked at the waitress and said "nooooo" like it was obvious or something. I then asked him if they would do it to honor veterans day as the next day was V day. He looked at me with a stern look that could cut glass and said "nooooo" again. Besides the chef with as much personality as the dead fish he was carving, the food was ok. Not great, not bad, not the best, but simply just 'ok'. Very expensive in here too, so bring lots of cash, you're gong to need it for the parking meters and the expensive mediocre sushi.More

Avoid. This was the worst sushi that I have ever had. One piece of Tuna had a bone in it. The rolls were badly made, and they fell apart. They need to try harder.

Ami satisfied my craving for sushi, although I chose a unique scallop dish presented with elegant restraint under a house-made sauce. Delighted to discover that their exceptional lemon ginger salad dressing is also house-made & available by the bottle for purchase!

I debated whether to rate this as average or poor. However, because of the sushi, I'll give it an "average." The sushi here has good flavor and seems fresh. However, for the uninitiated, it comes as big as loaves, not rolls. We just discovered you...can order the sushi as "bite-size" which is actually a regular sized sushi roll. I recommend doing this unless you want to wrestle a loaf-size sushi roll into submission. I'm unsure why the waiters don't automatically tell customers this; I've seen many reviews complaining about the unwieldiness of the larger rolls. The tempura, however, is NOT good. The batter tasted like it had been soaked in oil and the oil taste was stale. I've never had tempura which I disliked so much. In fact, I only ate the one shrimp and two bites of the sweet potato. I will NOT order tempura here again. In addition, the sunomono salad was just drenched with rice wine vinegar, not the regular delicious, sweet sunomono dressing. The service was actually pretty good, with a young, female waiter suggesting various dishes and asking how we liked our food. If you're looking for a good Japanese restaurant in Roseburg, I heartily suggest Sushi and Rolls on Carnes Rd. in the Green District instead. Their food is less expensive, tastier, and the environment is nicer too.More

This is a restaurant with an identify crisis ... about half of the menu items are Korean dishes and the other half Japanese ... and almost all their menu items a poor representation of the respective countries. For example, their chicken Teriyaki .. the chicken...was over cooked, tough and dry covered in a grayish-tan mystery sauce ... They make the largest Sushi Roll I’ve ever seen and I’ve been eating Sushi since I was seven years old (1964). The roll must have been at least 2 ½ to 3 inches in diameter made up of mostly rice and frankly that is about all you really taste. The prices here are comparable, and in many cases higher than what you’d find in a lot better ‘Asian’ restaurant in Eugene, Portland or even Seattle. The restaurant itself was sort of like eating in an old diner or truck stop. The service here was basically take your order, deliver your food and then bring the check, but they were friendly and when you can track a server down, they happily brought drink refills, another beer or more rice. Given the prices they charge, I suspect Ami has managed to stay in business because of its location (Roseburg) ... they have no real competition and quite possibly the locals are just unfamiliar with what exactly authentic asian food should be and taste like.More

We didn't feel like we understood this place, and are hesitant to be to judgemental based on a couple of plates. However, Yes, my spicy tuna roll was the size of a large burrito. It fell apart from its own weight and difficult to handle...with chopsticks or fingers, and impossible to bite without crumbling apart. I'd say the size was mostly in an overly thick rice layer that fell apart when dipping. Most sushi is presented in an aesthetic and appetizing manner, but here it's just like a clump of compacted rice. My wife ordered a noodle dish and said it was nothing to write home about. The service was okay, but not very helpful.More

Great, had miso soup, veggie app. Both great, sushi rolls tasty, but larger than we were used hard to eat, but awesome tasting. Little high for us on price $35.00 lunch.
