We tried this ramen place one night because it was highly recommended by a foodie blog we had checked out. We had the Tonkotsu Shio and Spicy Red Miso, as well as pork sliders. We thought the meal was not bad but it didn't blow...us away. The ramen is pretty decent and tasty and quite acceptable but because we have eaten ramen all over the world, and certainly for the 6 months when I worked in Japan, we've become familiar with this cuisine and its nuances. I would rate this Good but unfortunately Tripadvisor doesn't provide this rating to choose from. Would I return? Yes, but it wouldn't be my first choice.More

We heard of this Ramen house from our daughter. This was an excellent bowl of noodles, a must visit if you want to enjoy the best bowl of ramen soup ever.

This small eatery has a small menu and does it all extremely well. You can watch them prepare everything from their open kitchen. We had a fantastic green salad featuring swiss chard, pickled cabbage, and a complex soy-sesame dressing. We went with the classic ramen...featuring the pork bone broth and sesame oil featuring deliciously tender pork belly and a perfectly cooked jammy egg. All reasonably priced ($13 for ramen) with options of affordable add ins ($2 extra pork or $1.50 for extra noodles). There are many ramen places to try but this is worth a return trip.More

Ramen was pretty good but nothing spectacular. Staff was great, quick service and $13 bowls. Some appetizers as well. Limited tables but quick turbo er

We’re in Portland for the Memorial Day Holiday. Our first meal stop at Boxer Ramen was perfect after disembarking midday from the nearby Union Station. Portions were generous and visually appealing reminiscent of ramen in Japan, where we visited recently—hence the hankering for noodles. I...ordered Shiyo broth, my wife, the Miso flavor. My bowl was garnished with soft boiled egg, hand-sprinkles spices, shiitake mushroom, spinach, and a side order of pulled pork. The miso bowl was more plain. The broths were a little heavy on the salt, but the overall meal was very satisfying in that “slurp your noodles” kind of way! Mine delivered a bit of a peppery and tart punch. I will return.More

Killing some time in Portland on a cold Saturday and decided some hot ramen would hit the spot. This was nearby so I went in & had the spicy red miso with pork belly & soft boiled egg. It was hot, a little spicy, delicious...& very filling. I was stuffed after my lunch. There are other great ramen places in Portland, but this is definitely in my top 5.More

I was just in Portland with coworkers for a conference and we found this place near our hotel. I'd never had real ramen before so I was excited to try it. I just ordered the Tonkotsu Shio, which I think was a good starting point...for someone like me who was eating it for the first time. It was absolutely delicious, though I admittedly had some trouble eating it because I suck at using chopsticks (I'm ashamed to say I had to ask the waiter for a real fork). It's such a strange mixture of flavors but I'd definitely love to try it again.More

I had the Miso, but in the end wished I'd ordered the spicy one. This is a no fuss spot and serves up big bowls at very reasonable prices. I ordered a tater tot appetizer that sounded interesting and it turned out to be terrible...just...smelly fish flakes and too much sauce over a BIG pile of tater tots. To be fair, they took it off my bill...must be an experiment.More
