A very unique little restaurant/bar. Established in 1901 and still run by the original Wachsmuth family. I sat in the bar this trip and enjoyed service by Michelle, wife of the owner. She filled me in on a little history of the establishment as well as providing excellent service. I happened in on a Monday when it was half price... More

Never pass up a great Oyster Bar! Dan & Louis is a great one. We had the dozen Sampler platter and almost ordered another but opted for the crab stew (100 year old family recipe used) and fabulous clam chowder instead. Great service and friendly atmosphere will keep us coming back!

If you have to be in the area, and you like oysters, this is a great place to go. The staff is very nice, it's very casual, the food is really good. For $5 indulge in an Oregon Monster oyster which is an 11 year old from Netarts Bay. We had one raw and one cooked, both were excellent. The... More

A friend recommended the place and it sounded like a hit. The first time I tried was July 4th. Full house all around, streets full of people. Place was closed. I was back in town a few weeks later and tried it with a friend. We sat outside to enjoy the nice weather. We got to enjoy the weather a... More

Was walking around town and decided to give this place a try. Had a dozen oysters and I really only enjoyed 2-3 of them (I think one was the Sea Nymph). I also ordered a cocktail and I hated it. Overall food and drinks were kinda hit and miss. Service wasn't that great either. The outdoor patio was fantastic however.... More

We stopped here for lunch after taking the Underground Tour a couple blocks away. Michelle was our server and she was friendly. Service was a little slow, but I think she was the only one serving because we were there for a late lunch. Menu selection was limited but food was very good. My husband enjoyed their clam chowder and... More

We picked this restaurant based on menu online on tripadvisor. It was a totally different menu, online have maybe 5x items listed and seemed to look very good. Got there and all they have is a bar menu. I had the captains choice, which was very fresh seafood on a light batter and tasted very good, but not worth the... More

Our Portland friends who brought us here confirmed that Dan and Louis is a local institution that is often jammed. The décor is wonderfully rustic with a nautical feel and conversation pieces. Outdoor seating along a shared pedestrian pathway makes for a great experience eating and people watching (including the homeless) on a nice day . It's also a few... More

Fun place for dinner sitting outside in the middle of a pedestrian street in historic downtown. Tried a number of things. The fish tacos and salmon on top of a salad were especially good.

Spotting some well-located outdoor seating for people-watching and enjoying the pleasant outdoor environment (with the Saturday Market a block away) , we grabbed a table and let the hostess inside know we were there (In fact, she told us to "just take any open table.") And then we waited, and waited, and waited (and waited). We were not in a... More
