Any chance, any excuse at all and I'm going to have a meal at Jake's Famous Crawfish. This time around I had the horseradish parmigiana crusted steelhead with mashed potatoes and grilled squash. Imagine just how good this could be. Be prepared for your imagination to be exceeded.

We selected this for a birthday dinner while on a little visit to Portland. We were there on a Friday following a big snowstorm on Tuesday. The city was still pretty much shut down so the restaurant was not overly busy on a Friday night. We had champagne and appetizers and loved all of it. Amazing spent close to $300... More

it's still one of the classiest restaurants in Portland. The fresh menu honors the adjective, and if something has been flash-frozen, like the razor clams, your server will tell you without the need to ask. The wine list is very good. I asked the server to consult with the chef and blacken something for me. They chose steelhead, a sea-run... More

We would have never guessed that this restaurant was purchased by Landry's group. It remained true to its roots. First, I thought the table by the window would be much better after we were seated in one of the booth. The booths have that original atmosphere of this landmark restaurant. Lots of dark wood and low lit. The waiter was... More

The best thing about dinner at Jakes isn't the crawfish, it's old Portland. Only in one of the iconic rooms in the Northwest can you see the whole span of the city. The elderly woman with the walker once owned half the town; the gentleman with the cane owned the timber. From movers and shakers, to hustlers and beautiful women,... More

We went to Jakes for lunch on New Years day. We have been many times before and had a great experience but this time it was exceptional. We could have lunch or brunch and two of our party had brunch, two had lunch. The food was excellent, particularly the crab and shrimp cake brunch. The poached eggs were lovely and... More

We used to love going here, but over the years not so much. We made a trip there for lunch this summer with out of town guests. It was a delightful experience and we have been back several times. For lunch we like to be seated in a window booth; the people watching is great. In the evening we love... More

This is the place for dining in the traditional style. Too many restaurants today serve great food in terrible conditions. They're crowded, noisy, full of people hovering over their cell phones. It's terrible. At Jake's you have good food in quiet, genteel surroundings with attentive, experienced staff. One of my favorite places in Portland.

Christmas Day is a busy day to get dinner out, and Jake's was no exception. Reservations through Open Table, we arrived a few minutes early, waited about a half-hour for a table, to discover that our request for a booth was honored, and better yet, it was a window table. Victoria was our very excellent server, and she started out... More
