We get there and people were waiting, which is fine but they were so unorganized. They didn't have a hostess or anyone near the front door. You just stand there waiting for someone to acknowledge you. When someone finally walked up to me she was beyond rude, I told her how many people and she just walked away, how am... More

My family and I stopped in for lunch. The food was tasty and prepared well, and I can't say enough about how friendly the employees were. Would recommend for sure.

Best place we visited on Hawthorne Street - hands down! Everything here is the best. The service, the food, the originality, the vibe - can't say enough good things about this operation!

Outstanding breakfast menu. Great atmosphere. Staff and other guests are really friendly. The restaurant setting "encourages" interaction with other diners. Coffee is really good. In case you're wondering, the founders of the restaurants were chef and writers. Thus, the "ink" in the title. Got this info from the staff; so willing to share.

Love Bread and Ink Cafe. Have dined there for years off and on. Well done classic Jewish food to French.

My mom and my sisters and I were in Portland to explore. We ended up at the Bread and Ink Café while wandering Hawthorne Boulevard in search of dinner. The place was not very full, so it seemed perfect. Our server, Richie, was friendly and very helpful, although he seemed a bit distracted. We ordered the Dungeness crab and pine... More

A bit of a Hawthorne institution. The service is efficient and friendly and the food is freshly made-to-order and very good. Impressive spot as this cornerstone of the renaissance in Hawthorne has been banging out three meals a day for the past 30 years. We went for the chicken and waffles and one of the excellent omelettes with hash browns,... More

I came here on a recommendation from a friend and I was not disappointed. We had a relatively large group so we tried out a bunch of different items and kindof passed them around and shared. Chicken and waffles were truly incredible (especially the maple syrup and the parmesan dip), the burgers were tasty and cooked the way you want... More

The cutest waiter ever made the most delicious non-alcoholic drink off the "special menu!" You can't go wrong with their black bean burger. A lot of food and reasonably priced!
