On a very busy Friday night we were treated with a comfortably paced meal and excellent service by the staff. Food was super with great presentation. We sat outside which was fun and made for easy conversation even with street noises. It is definitely worth a visit. The Happy Hour menu is quite extensive and fun.

I had the cream based tomato soup and the four cheese grilled cheese sandwich, both were delicious. My friend had the cheeseburger with truffle oil fries, and he really enjoyed his food as well. unfortunately they are closing at this location, but are re-opening at SWTaylor and 3rd later this year. so we cal all enjoy their fantastic food. This is an amazing Restuarant for any occasions! Sadly I have heard a rumor that it will be shut down because of the plan for land that this place is located at! It will be a sad day for Portland to see this restaurant to go away!

Lunch at Veritable Quandary on Thursday September 22. Ordered trout and risotto entry's. Meal came to table, had to take picture which I never do. Great presentation. Taste matched presentation. Fabulous lunch. Entry's were $18 each, it was a bargain. Fast, attentive, very friendly service. Food delivered within 10-15 minutes of being seated. Highly recommend restaurant. Arrived 5 minutes before... More

I'm thrilled that it tasted as good as it looked, Mark -- that's exactly what we strive for! There's really no better way to enjoy one of our meals than out on the patio, so I'm glad we could find you a seat out there. Looking forward to having you back again soon! Until next time, Erin, GM More

We had a wonderful meal of small plates on the lovely patio. The bartender was top-notch, and craft cocktails definitely worth the tariff, service attentive, and the food varied and notably well done. And by national standards, the prices were quite reasonable (although I imagine they are high for Portland). Unfortunately, the restaurant, a long-time Portland institution, is being displaced... Thank you, Drew and Maria, for your wonderful review! I'm thrilled that you were able to try quite a few of our smaller plates as well as our cocktails. There's something lovely about a tapas-style meal like that! Although we will be closing, we'll be taking many of our classic recipes as well as our head Chef, Annie, to the... More

Great bar menu, specialty drinks, local beers and extensive bottled beers to please your thirst. Menu was delightful with seasonal options along with side options. BUT because the restaurant is closing at this site and opening soon at another; some of their food items are not being replenished during the transition. Follow the advise of your server.

Thank you for your honest review. Our servers are definitely the people to turn to when it comes to suggestions regarding our menu -- especially if you'd like to pair a wine or beer with one of our dishes. I hope that we'll get to see you again after Q opens this fall! Until then, Erin, GM More

My friend came to town and she picked this restaurant. The setting is beautiful. My palette is not as refined as many others. I asked if I could substitute a side for a different side. You would have thought I spit on the server. This led to the server going to ask the chef. The server kept saying (to every... More

I apologize that you weren't given more information during your meal, Evan. We do in fact ask the chef about changing up our dishes as each dish is crafted carefully to balance flavors and textures. Often, if a customer asks for a change to a dish our chef will create an entirely new dish to accommodate their preference, as showing... More

Food was delicious! All 3 of us enjoyed our meals. They are closing, but they are going to open "Q". We will definitely check out Q when we are in town again.

It's easy to return to this Portland landmark due to the rotation of the menu. In some cases, that isn't always a good thing as you find something that you really enjoyed is no longer available but then you find something new that you like just as well. Great variety of atmosphere from the darker, smokey-noir bar to the daylight... More

I'm so pleased that you've always found something to love on our menu, Larry! It's definitely hard to say goodbye to favorites on our menu, but there's always something deliciously seasonal on the horizon. Although the VQ will be closing, I hope you'll join us when we open Q this fall! Best, Erin, GM More

Stopped here for lunch and it was great. We were able to sit on the patio and it was almost perfect. The food was great and the ambience too. I had the vq burger, it was great. Highly recommended for an afternoon treat.
