Had to wait 40 minutes, but the sign of people waiting is usually a good indicator of somethings good inside. Yes it was. All very good and willing to go back.

It pains me greatly to say that I could not finish this mammoth portion. Great biscuits, great sausage makes great biscuits and gravy. Classic Portland.

My bias: we are a mostly vegetarian family of four (omnivore dad, vegan mom, vegetarian 12 year-old, special Sensory diet ten year-old in a wheelchair). We had walked over from our hotel to the *fantastic* Ace Hardware (seriously, best ever) and then I pulled up "breakfast near me" on my phone. How lucky were we this place popped up! It's... More

My husband and I were craving a traditional East Coast type breakfast. We found this place on Trip Advisor, and after reading the menu online, decided to visit. The set up is typical to a diner, with lots of tables close to one another. The waitresses were all dressed in their own outfits, but definitely in an old-fashioned diner style... More

We walked by this restaurant around noon and thought let's give it a try!! Glad we did!! We had a fried egg sandwich and the chicken salad sandwich. The chicken salad was delish and plentiful. It was offered with house made potato salad which was to die for!! The place was pretty full and the wait staff very attentive to... More

LOVE IT!! We stayed in the Pearl District for a few days and couldn't help but eat breakfast at Byways each morning! We wanted to try different places, but couldn't. Nothing could have been better for breakfast, so we just kept going back. The sweet cream pancakes with Strawberries and Megs Veggie Mound were the clear favorites. Simply delicious. The... More

If you are heading to Powells Book Shop in the Pearl District to get a copy of Blue Highways, then this is the right place for breakfast. In his book Least Heat-Moon makes a great case for avoiding the interstates, enjoying the more interesting slower routs. This cafe is a step out of the fast lane and into quality. (And... More

Very good food, unique atmosphere, good service, will go again. Had the pikes peak omelette, very good ingredients. Blue corn pancakes were more like eating a flat corn muffin than a pancake but overall no complaints here.

This place has lots of good really basic options for breakfast and lunch, but the Turkey Burger here is legendary.

Having already indulged in sugar at Voodoo Doughnuts on a previous visit, I decided to get something more substantial for my next breakfast. Just a quick walk from downtown I decided to the Triple D recommended Byways Café. I went with the raved about Corned beef and Hash and it was delicious. I got there around 9-9:30am on a Tuesday...
