We were a large party and happened to hear about Bluehour. The place gets high marks. The decor and set up is fabulous. The menu is not complicated which told me something special happens in the kitchen. We were very very happy. The food is first rate and prepared with an impressive presentation. 3rd night in Portland and thus place... More

This was our second visit to Bluehour and we were not disappointed. Our waiter, Brook, took care of our every request with a smile on his face. Even though he had other tables we always felt like we were his only customers. The food was delicious and we are so glad we saved room for dessert! You won't go wrong... More

Service is excellent and atmosphere is quite lovely. Our server brought apres bites for us to sample. None of them were amazing but the presentation was very good and added to the overall experience. The cocktails are expertly mixed and delicious. I had sea bass and was very pleased. It was cooked to perfection. All in all, if you're looking... More

This fancy place has a great burger , with a real smoke flavor. $8 for burger with blue cheese and bacon, $4 for fries, $4 for draft beer, a bit more but much better than some other popular places. If you come after happy hour they still have a burger and fries for $15 and I think the draft is... More

I was looking for a fine upscale restaurant for the last night of our family visit to Portland. Honestly it was a joke! The menu was dull with very few options. We were seated given water and then ignored for 15 minutes. We finally flagged someone down and gave our drink orders and asked for bread. When they finally came... More

It really sounds like dropped the ball when you came by, and I'm truly sorry about that. What you described is odd, though, so you can rest assured I'll talk to the team and look into what might have happened. Best wishes, Bruce Carey Owner More

How do they manage to have such great mixologists at the bar...all the time. The cocktails here are great, and the happy hour menu is just right.

It started to pour, so we ducked into the nearest restaurant & found this gem...& it was happy hour. Yay! Cocktails were good & you could choose from a variety of food options within the happy hour prices. Atmosphere was sophisticated yet comfortable & the staff was friendly yet professional.

A friend recommended that we have dinner at Bluehour tonight. We were allocated a great table, the service could not have been better, the food was art on a plate, the quality and flavors were outstanding, the wine list was comprehensive and we chose a Willamette Valley Chardonnay that was excellent. Without qualification this was the best food we have... More

We were walking in the Pearl District, with no real dinner plans, and decided to try Bluehour. without reservations we were seated quickly. The server was very knowledgeable and attentive. Food was awesome...asparagus soup, steak, and an excellent bottle of wine. A nice spur of the minute dinner. We will be back.

I attended a group dinner at L'heure blue, the separate dining area behind Bluehour restaurant. The service was excellent. I had garlic soup and Alaskan halibut. Both were very good. I will return sometime to have dinner in the regular part of the restaurant.

Description
Bluehour means different things to different people. In French literature it describes any time of day "of heightened emotion." In Portland it has come to mean "a great place to dine." As the premier modern restaurant in the Pearl District, Bluehour opened its doors in 2000, with what Gourmet Magazine describes as, "the most sophisticated, contemporary food in town." Guests choose between the elegant dining room or the casual cafe and bar. Simple, delicious and classic describes the Mediterranean cuisine we create in the Bluehour kitchen each night. The menu is printed daily, but Bluehour standards remain, like the pillowy potato gnocchi with black truffle and the perfectly seared, bacon wrapped sea scallops. Our cheese cart is among the finest on the West Coast, featuring regional and international artisan cheeses.
