Service was great and the caesar salad was too but our steaks were served on a cold plate and our steaks were cold before we could finish eating them and that's not how you like your steaks when you're paying the price they're asking for them!

Everything was perfect from the superb service, tableside Caesar salad, steak, side dishes and dessert. The Caesar salad had just the perfect amount of dressing which is all made from scratch at your table. My mom had the clam chowder and said it was delicious. We all had steak and the filet mignon melted in my mouth. The side dishes... More

My wife's Grandma turned 70 yesterday and we wanted to take her somewhere "special." Well, no place in Portland is more special to us than El Gaucho. 28-day aged beef cooked to perfection. Grandma really liked the Ahi Tartare, Escargot (she'd never had before), and Lobster Mashed Potatoes. Of course, the Lobster Tail on her steak didn't hurt anything either.

Looking for an old fashion dining experience? Check out the cigar lounge at El Gaucho. Large tables or small, draped in white linen, all with a view of the large screen TV to cheer on your favorite team. The room smells great in my opinion, it has an awesome ventilation system. The full menu is available, great service all around.... More

One funny thing about El Gaucho that i still dont get is why they only serve dinner, why they start sitting at 4:30pm and not serve lunch and open earlier? They would certainly have the business, the restaurant is awesome, staff is friendly and well trained and the menu is wonderful. I recommend trying the Steak Tartare and the Steak... More

Great service with lots of great cuts of beef. Lots of sides to go with your steak. The sweet corn and scallop potatoes are a must. Dinner does not come cheap great for a special occasion.

Visiting Portland on business and had an early evening meal. Very busy restaurant which is always a good sign. Had the baseball cut sirloin which was a first for me but really enjoyable. However a steak, one side and a glass of wine still came to $90 plus tip. Service was good but would definitely regard this as somewhere to... More

We popped in for a light meal and drinks and grabbed a seat at the bar. The bar tender was entertaining and shared his signature drink as an option. Live music and great ambiance. It's a dark restaurant so take a flashlight so you can see the menu!

This is suppose to be a fine dining restaurant. This was the second visit and last visit to ElGaucho. We had gone less than a year ago for my Birthday. The service was fantastic and made you feel like a queen. Unfortunately, the lamb that was suggested had way too much pepper on it and was very tough. The dish was taken off our bill and the steak we also had was good---not excellent. I would say it's a good steakhouse---but not a great one!
