We were at Jamison Square with grandkids who wanted pizza. Looking for an alternative we saw Sinju and were we glad we left the kids with their mother. The Hamachi Kama (tuna jaw) was outstanding and my roll - one of the specials of the day with mango and hazelnuts and eel was a real treat. Add to that an... More

This is a nice place with good food. It is rather expensive. The service was satisfactory but not great. I think there are better sushi restaurants in the Pearl, some quite close to Sin Ju.

My daughter and I vacationed in Portland last week to find a fabulous fresh sushi restaurant. The sashimi plate was large and the fish was well appointed and very fresh.

Excellent Japanese restaurant. White tablecloths, friendly and helpful service. The sashimi was fresh and delicious. The tempura was as perfect as it could be...light and crispy. Good wine selection. Would definitely return!

We have been coming here a few times a year since our first date 12 years ago. Tonight was totally disappointing. It took 35 minutes to get the first part of our order and over an hour for completion, despite being half full on a Tuesday. The waiter was clearly new...and clearly inadequately trained. He said the delay was due... More

Food was good, average for sushi, service ok. Given all the eating establishments in downtown Portland, would likely not come back, though.

Sin Ju has been part of the Pearl District neighborhood for years now. I've been a few times over the last five or more years, and I'm never disappointed with the quality of the food. On our last visit, we had both sushi and chicken teriyaki. The food was all delicious, and the staff was very patient with our small... More

We went here on a whim because the first two restaurants were full and they were very accommodating to our party of 9. The variety on the menu is very good and the portions are quite large, especially for a Japanese restaurant where the portions are usually small. I had the bento which frankly, was like getting four small dinners!... More

Had a family birthday dinner in a tatami room. We enjoyed appetizers and sushi and sashimi. Service and food was very good and love the privacy of the small rooms. This is one of our favorite restaurants in Portland.

The sushi was good. The specialty rolls are a good size but a little higher in price. They had a little delay with a large catering order before we were able to get are meal but they were very accommodating and gave us a order of edamame at no charge. The service was excellent!
