Despite just being slightly-expensive donuts, I was surprised by their great taste and guilt-free lightness. Most flavored donuts are covered in thick gloss, but these were a nice balance of taste but not over-sugar. The brioche helps makes it feel light so you're eating something...More

Donuts are not part if my diet, so I had a half a raspberry and rosemary donut because I am pretty sure rosemary is a vegetable. Others in the party scared down two or three donuts of wonderfully imaginative flavor combinations. I know from previous...More

My town doesn't have any good donuts, so this was a priority when visiting Portland. We got lucky and didn't have to wait long in line. I had the creme brûlée donut with eggnog cream filling. They had used a blowtorch to caramelize the sugar...More

I had the Chocolate Almond Ganache donut. The chocolate used was a dark chocolate and thus not as sweet as a normal chocolate donut. I definitely want to try more of them, so I will be back. The donut was good, but I wouldn't say...More

I’ve had voodoo donuts a few times before and wasn’t super impressed, so I skipped it on this trip, favoring to try blue star instead. I got the lemon poppy and raspberry rosemary. The sad thing was that they’re a different style of donut- similar...More

Need I say more? Highly recommend all the buttermilk varieties, as well as the blueberry bourbon one. Fair amount of space to sit and enjoy a few before taking the rest to go! Pairs well with heart roasters coffee next door!

Some things should not be messed with and become "artisan". We went to the downtown Portland location at 4 p.m. bought two donuts. $7. Totally gross. I had a buttermilk lemon poppy, friend had a sugar and spice. They were super greasy, dry, hard and...More

Whilst on a tour of Portland, we thought it would be a must to visit a donut shop and were recommended a visit to blue star. Oh my! The donuts were delicious and we got a selection to share in the group. Personally, I could...More

Description
"Donuts for Grownups!" Blue Star Donuts is a gourmet donut concept founded in Portland, OR in 2012. Our donuts are made from a classic brioche recipe that originated in the south of France. The dough takes 18 hours to make and is made by hand every day; we start with a high quality bread flour, add cage-free eggs, whole hormone-free milk, and then fold in a European-style butter. Our donuts, glazes, and fillings are made fresh throughout the day, without artificial colors or preservatives, and we prioritize collaborations with our community vendors. Selections change seasonally and sell out quickly. We proudly serve "Blue Star Blend" by award-winning Coava Coffee Roasters, as well as Steve Smith teas.
